So as I'm upgrading my truck exhaust I'm looking at muffler ideas. I want the jakes louder but don't want the truck to be too loud so straights are out of the question. I'm looking at a Pittsburgh shorty or a grand rock muffler. Just the 2 options I have found without getting too complicated. I know the gr is 222 and the pp is over 500 iirc. Question is does anyone have experience with either? Looking for thoughts on mileage and power gain also increased noise level from stock. Any inputs would be awesome

Donaldson M100463 sounds like what you are looking for and you can get them for a good price.

I would have to modify the exhaust. Looking more for an easy driveway drop in since I have the reverse flow muffler

I had a pp muffler and a resonator on mine. The pp muffler cracked so I replaced it with a piece of straight pipe. Its a touch louder on accel and on the jake but I can't tell the difference driving down the road.
If I remember correctly the junk pp muffler was around $600. A piece of straight pipe was around $100. -
How big is the resonator? Maybe worst case I just have the shop cut the muffler off mine and put in a resonator or that Donaldson. Was just kinda hoping to do it myself. KW makes it difficult with that u shaped muffler

That u shaped muffler really wasn't diffixult. I installed my own donaldson.
There's no mileage gain. The only difference between stock and donaldson is the length.
Inside. It's all the same. -
What hat about the sound difference?

Edit. Its 30" long.Last edited: Mar 16, 2015
