I'm looking at a set of Jacobs brake model 25a. I need to know if that model will fit on a ntc350 cummins out of a 1974 KW W923. They came off a 64 Pete with a small cam cummins.
I bought a pos kenworth w923 with only 114k miles. I'm going to resto mod and use as a heavy haul truck but want to keep the cummins in it. When I rebuild and freshen the motor, I'd like to install jakes. Engine currently doesn't have them. I've been working on heavy trucks for quite a while but I'm not very familiar with old school cummins. Any help and / or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

No guarantees here but I'll blow some cobwebs and and go. Around 1962-64 cummings went from External fuel lines going into the side to fuel lines going in the rear of the back head. I am quite sure they used the same valve cover gasket from then intell the change with the BC3 or 4. If the gasket is the same I thank the jakes will work. I'm quite uncertain about the older engine but if the gasket fits it works is probably still the case. There may have been a change when injectors went from PTD's to top stops(0 lash) around 1980. If your 1974 has the original engine is it not also a small cam and should be no problem. Remember to use the rocker boxes that came with the jakes or change the allen set screw in the middle that feeds oil to them.

Thanks for the reply. Replace the o-rings at the end of the rocker shafts also. If you are jacking HP and your engine is not set up for piston cooling nozzles your going to have problems. Seems like some maybe had holes drilled in the top of the rods. Upgrading to lower press fit liners, which requires special machine work, was considered standard with overhaul years ago. You may get by with a low mileage limited usage block. The big cam pulse manifold and Holset bolt right on, a definite plus, but you need a plummer. With the year model listed are you sure it is an original N-4 valve head, T- turbo charged, C- after cooled 350

74 was only three years before the big cam was released, the engine in his truck wouldn't be that old in comparison for a small cam
