Any one have info on this particular make and model. Looking at a 2013 KW T660 with a ISX Paccar engine. 450 HP, 13 speed and 3.55. I know that Paccars, "Use" to be grossly underpowered, but has Paccar redefined or fine tuned any of the issues regarding them and made them even worth the trouble of having one?

I'm asking a lot questions lately because I'm learning and looking to eventually replace all 6 of our International Eagles. Just trying to narrow down options.

    Thank you all.

Isx is a cummins engine mx13 is the Paccar product .. 450 hp sounds like the cummins rating paccar is typically 435/455/485/500 from what I've seen

I own a 2013 KW T660 Studio, I have the Paccar MX13 engine with no restrictions and HP set to 485, 13 speed, 3.36 gearing, with currently 402,315 mi on it. I also have the Thermo King apu.

My experience with the engine has been very good, I do 30,000 mi oil changes, can go to 40,000 OCI
according to mfg. Engine does not use any oil, coolant ect. I do all my own maintenance on trk except the DPF filter cleaning. Everything is pretty easy to maintain on the engine. It was recommended to me by the dealer to pull egr cooler every time I service the emission system. Reason being is to clean the soot and accumulated carbon out of the passages which create hot spots and burn thru, along with Def filter, and cleaning dosing injector, and other sensors. I do my DPF filter service every 160,000 mi, same time I do my valve train adjustment, it takes me one full day at home to do all this, including pulling and reinstalling DPF filter. I am pro active on maintenance. I don't wait until things break. Idling is very hard on the emission system. I have a lifetime idle average of 4%, lifetime fuel mi avg is 6.5 mpg. I do admit I have a heavy right foot I cruise at 73 mph most times I stay out west where very little traffic. Overall impression with the Paccar motor from a former die hard yellow motor lover is, it doesn't have the down low torque, it does well between 14 to 1700 in a hard pull, power is good. would I buy another yes!. BTW it hasn't broke down and left me stranded yet.

That's how it was listed on truck paper. I was confused by the paccar/ISX listing too, but I thought maybe there was something I didn't know. Now, I'm sorta suspicious of the company that listed the truck. You would think they wouldn't have listed it that way.

Btw, they have 15 units available and most have just over 400k miles. Red flag, or maybe a small company that closed up shop?

I've been told a lot of companies trade in every three years. Personally, I wouldn't get a fleet truck cause I just wonder how maintenance is with trucks like that. Maybe that's paranoia or something but I just think with how some companies are, they'd sacrifice to save money. Especially if they are on a trade in plan every few years. Maybe I'm way off but......

Makes sense. I've seen several listings for ex Melton kw's. Trucks look great, but question the true condition of the units and the price they're asking for them. So many unknown variables and the last person I'm gonna trust is a truck salesman, selling me some story on how good this equipment actually is.
However, at some point, I'm gonna have to stick my neck out there and hope that knowledge and luck and some negotiation skills work in my favor. ;)

That's great news Jason. Hope that success continues for ya. Like I've said, I'm in the market for a few newer units in the short term , however I'm still trying to figure out which road I'm gonna travel down for replacements.

There has been issues brought up about the Paccar engine regarding the earlier production runs, but now it seems they've finally found some success with them and the complaints about them have decreased.

My brother has a former Melton truck. T600, O7 with a CAT. Has twin turbos on it. The truck itself is in decent condition but the engine burns oil. Plus about every 7-8,000 miles oil pressure drops bad and returns once new oil and filter are installed. KW said it was bad bearings on crank. They changed them. Didn't make sense to me. It made no difference. Now they are saying it has not been using the CAT filters. Of course, I forget now what they exact description of the filters are but he started using them. No difference. KW said it will take a while because there's probably a lot of sludge built up in engine due to poor maintenance and improper filters while it was a Melton truck.

Whether or not this is all true, only time will tell. I mentioned if there's a build up of sludge in engine from poor maintenance, then why not flush the engine out. Heck, drain oil and run diesel fuel through it for a minute. Guess that would be frowned on.

Of course, I have no idea how accurate the KW shop is about the oil pressure issues etc..... If so, though, it just supports my paranoia about "fleet trucks".

See, I guess I don't yet understand the used truck market and the dealerships that sell them. I would have assumed that the dealership shops would do what you just said. Engine flushes, replacement of vital fluids, hoses, gaskets, oil testing...etc. making sure that known issues weren't issues any more. Wouldn't that give the dealerships more credibility and a somewhat higher return on the used product they're trying to get off their lots?

Just kills me me that a wash job and some armor all tire shine are what they use to push trucks. Or, do they do a bumper to bumper inspection and try to fix/repair any issues?

You would think but I've really lost tons of respect the past few years for KW dealers/shops. Guess it not much difference than auto/car dealerships. It's all about the money/profit to them.
