I just got rid of my zf freedom line tranny after computer died. I now have a 13 speed eaton standard installed. Took it out for a test drive and runs and shifts great. Clutch pedal and linkage I installed are working smoothly. I got the reverse lights and temp gauge working. But I can't get the speedometer to work. There is an 8 pin connector where trans connects to engine ecm. The trans side of harness has 6 wires going into this plug. 2 wires for reverse light switch, 2 wires for temp sensor/ gauge and 2 wires that I thought were for the speedo but won't turn it on. Does anyone know if there is another speedo wire harness for the sensor to plug into?

I'm guessing some ECM updates would be needed in that swap..?

Thanks for the reply. I did take the ecm to my mechanic to do an egr delete while I was working on the swap. I told him about what I was doing and He said it was good to go for the standard transmission. I will call him on Monday to let him know about the speedo problem.

The zf meritor had a separate wire harness that went to a plug on the firewall. It used this to communicate with engine ecm to determine when to shift. This wire harness was only connected to the kenworth wiring through the 6 wire connector I mention earlier I used for reverse lights and temp sensor. I completely removed this meritor harness from the truck and hooked up the temp / speedo / and reverse switch to kenworth factory harness.

Update. I found the VSS wires in the harness that goes to 50 pin connector on isx ecm. I installed a 2nd speed sensor in transmission tail shaft and ran wires to a plug on firewall marked "speedometer extension harness". Now I have speedo in dash working and my ecm is recieving vehicle speed signal. The harness between frame rail and transmission where trans temp and reverse lights plug into, had 4 additional wires. Two of them run to the ecm for VSS, and the other two are for starter lockout. After putting a jumper wire on these two my starting issue was resolved. All I need now is to get the cruise control, high idle, and jake brakes working. I think its an ecm program issue. I have changed setting from automatic to manual, and selected clutch switch enabled. Cruise is turned on and so is pto but still not working. Anyone know about cummins insite isx 870 parameters? Appreciate the feedback. Thanks

HI Billy. So I have couple of questions about the transmission if you can help me out or anyone else. I bought a Kenworth T800 couple months ago with the ZF Automatic Transmission. The problem with it was, it would take about 2-3 hours warmed up before it can go into drive or reverse. I took it to the dealer last month and they messed everything up and now it wont go into gear anymore. Now I'm trying to figure out what can be the problem and it doesn't seem to be mechanical issue its seems its a electrical problem. Would that have to deal with computer? Also what can kind of transmission did you swap it for? Also If you can possibly tell me which one you got i can look into just swapping it.
    Thanks.
