well retired CPO, thanks for the site. But, I have read it already, and desire more informatin from those who are or have lived it. Looking for the straight skinny from other drivers. Another retired CPO.

Yes they picked up a bunch of brand new Volvos. Night and day different from the Freightliners. Best of all, shhhhhh, they haven't turned them down yet.:biggrin_25525:

Make sure you check and verify that the company is hiring out of your area. I know KLLM does business in the Seattle area, so I imagine they hire out of there...just make sure.

Those working at KLLM and are lease operators, how does the purchasing of fuel work for you? Does KLLM pay any of that expense?

    How about insurance?

Are you able to make enough income to pay your truck payment and living expenses?

Is lease operator financially better than being a company driver?

    Thanks

I am out of the trucking industry...the road was too much. It isn't for everyone, and I salute those that keep freight moving! My experience with KLLM is the same as most, the miles promised as a L/P OTR driver never materialized. The dispatchers in Jackson were usually inept or just didn't give a rat's behind about you...many a load was given to me late and I would be forced to do some off-driving to get it there reasonably within the parameters of "on time". This goes against DOT mandates in the little green book, but they don't care about that. My beef came to a boil with them over my departure. They state in our contract (dated back in the summer of 2013) that the truck must be returned to a KLLM yard. In November, it became official KLLM purchased FFE. I quit in late November and dropped off my truck at an FFE terminal in Florida. The ######## charged me $1280 out of my final check (that went into the negative and subsequently had the negative difference taken from my maintenance escrow) for them to allegedly send a driver to pick the truck up. BS! Per the contract which isn't worth much in their eyes, I turned it into them as dictated in the terms...I even drafted up my own resignation on letterhead with the truck VIN on there and had an FFE dispatcher sign to verify the truck was in good shape. I'm now waiting on my attorney to let me know about arbitration. KLLM CHEATS THEIR DRIVERS!! DO NOT DO A LEASE CONTRACT WITH THEM--YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!

Can lease drivers take loads off of company drivers? A lease driver from another company said his company can do that.
