I am driving on my own (after grad.) since Oct 25. SE regional. Like it a lot so far. Truck is 2007 Columbia with 385K. Runs great. Paychecks vary from $400 to $750 take home. I am on the road for 7 days and home 1 1/2 day.
123456 and tntrucker14 Thank this. -
Thanks for the info. What your truck speed set at?
-
company says it 61 mph, but it goes 63

lease purchase with kllm...
last week had 3100 miles. made $1800
KLLM has been nothing but honest with me. I would GLADLY refer someone else to this companysailorman1 Thanks this. -
it may SAY 63..... but you are only doing 61 -
I honestly do not care if it is 61 or 63 , but here is the situation that make me fell glad that I am NOT leasing the truck:
Delivered on FR, next load was only SUN at 22:00, got loaded, went 150 miles - breaks on trailer cot on fire due to POOR adjustment (that what I was told in the shop). Spent over 24 hours in the shop, went another 100 miles, stopped to check and discovered a huge air leak from tire pressure adjustment system. Got this fixed. Finally got to the customer (another 130 miles), but was late.
Now I am sitting on the truck stop, waiting for another app. time. 5 days - 380 miles.
Sh.. happens. But I am glad I don't have the truck payment!charlie's angel Thanks this. -
Aiken,
That is because the company drivers get the loads that the lease drivers turn down. Lease and O/O get first pick of the loads unless there isn't one within reasonable deadhead distance. A lot of these are the shorter hauls which is why the company increased the pay to L/P and O/O on those short runs...to make them more appealing...hoping to free up some longer loads for company drivers.
You may sit...but me....I hardly have time to breathe because they've got me driving the wheels off my truck.
As for the shop...don't even get me started. The guys in there call me El Chupacabra. I've had to start WWIII the last three times my truck has been in there AND ended up having to diagnose my own truck because they utterly ignored a leak in the air charger that was staring them in the face and told me to just chalk the problems up to the truck "getting old". Funny how it runs SO much better...almost like new...since they fixed the bloody air leak.
And, yes, the speedometers on Freightliners are horribly inaccurate. They always read faster than you are actually going.
Off to bed for me now. I'm on another "Mission Impossible" run....2100 miles from Friday at 1600 to Monday at 0600. Who the xxxx is scheduling this stuff?????? They need to switch to decaff....Jarhed1964, 123456 and Son of a Trucker Thank this. -
Hey Roadtoad, im looking to get into trucking and KLLM is on my list. Not really sure I want to do the L/O at the beginning and some that speak illy of it but are you saying that the company drivers basically get the leftover loads that no one else wants?? But hey if there is enough to go around i dont mind.
Any company drivers out there want to comment on miles they are getting? -
I an on % of the load. SE Regional. Miles do not matter to me, but usually I get between 1600 and 2100 per week (less miles is actually somewhat good for me, as long as runs paid well)
Son of a Trucker Thanks this.
