hi again, I started cdl school on monday and all is well got my permit and background check w/fingerprints already in the works so i will have my hazmat endoresment when i graduate. After doing my homework on the various trucking companies that have given me a pre-hire i have choosen to take KLLM up on the offer. From everything that i read and have heard from different drivers KLLM is a really good company to start with and maybe even continue with. Could any of you wonderful KLLM drivers help a newbie out with some infomation that i may have missed. Hopefully this is the right decision to make as i look to make a long career with whomever i choose. Thanks in advance.
so looks like KLLM will be my choice

just looked at the crete website. 1 of the reasons i am choosing KLLM is the tution payback plan they have. Crete does not offer that. Maybe once i get out on the road and have my school paid for i will look into them again thanks for the input.

One of the problems at KLLM currently is truck availability. It isn't good to go thru training and not have a truck. They have been putting a lot of trucks into the lease program. (especially the older trucks, which traditionally went to new drivers))
Lease drivers do not get school reimbursement the last I heard. I may be wrong on this. -
I believe you are right Professor. No reimbursement for lease drivers...that is IF you jump straight into a lease within the first year. My advice is DO NOT ATTEMPT LEASING UNTIL...you have a minimum of one year on the road under your belt. You need to learn the ins and outs of the trucking industry - how everything works and how all of the pieces fit together. You also need to learn the "hot zones" and "cold zones" for the company - what areas they have plenty of freight to/from and which areas they don't. If you don't know these details then you can find yourself taking a load right into a dead zone and either sitting OR having to deadhead an excessive number of miles (neither of which is profitable) in order to get another load.
There are a lot of details and nuances you need to learn and figure out before you can get the most out of the lease program. The potential for losing your *** is very real if you jump in too soon without the tools of this knowledge under your belt.
