Well now....... since YOU are paying for the truck.... and YOU are paying for the fuel..... why should they care?

Trying to get into a better freight lane?

So what are your plans Toad? Are you just going to take some time off and think it over or are you gonna bail? Just curious. Good luck in whatever decision you make. :biggrin_2558:

Nope. Went home. Let me sum it up. I have spent 2 weeks trying to get in touch with the head of the L/P program as I was just going further and further in the hole because my truck was in the shop every time I turned around. I never could get her to call me back.
Last Wednesday, on my way to Denver, my truck was running up to around 230-240 degrees. I called road breakdown and they sent me to the TA in Amarillo where the TA spent 11 hours putting a thermostat in my truck while I, without enough money for a motel, sat out in 45 degrees on a curb all night. I told both RBD and the TA that it was NOT the thermostat but, apparently, because I carry my pair up top center, I'm a moron and don't know a #### thing.
Thursday afternoon I take off and head for Denver again. I get 30 miles north of Amarillo and my radiator blows up. Paint me wholly unsurprised - I told them it wasn't the #### thermostat now didn't I? But, hey, that was the cheapest thing they could find to try that might be related to the problem....instead of having the Freightliner RIGHT NEXT DOOR take a look at it and take the time to find out what was REALLY wrong with it.
So I spend Thursday night at Freightliner while they put in a new radiator. I then AGAIN head for Denver. I get to I-70 and get a call telling me that if I get to the receiver by 4:30 I'll be able to deliver my load. So I blow it out at 70mph, get there at 4:20...to find the gates locked.
I end up sitting on the load until 9:30 Monday and end up back in the shop AGAIN at the TA in Denver because I have a coolant leak. I get out of the shop at 3pm...sit there the rest of Monday and until noon on Tuesday (and by the looks of it would have been sitting there until 8pm Tuesday).
By the time I boiled over at Tuesday noon, I had not had anything to eat since Saturday morning (6 pack of donuts and a banana), was dead broke, my cell phone had been cut off because I had not been able to pay it for the SECOND month in a row, am a month behind in my rent and have spent at least the $6000 I had saved for my maintenance escrow (for once I pay off my truck) in the past 7 months just trying to keep my bills paid and stay afloat.

March - my turbo blew: 5 days lost time...3 of those in the shop / 2 sitting
    A/C compressor / alternator: 1 day lost

    April - my v-pod blew: 6 days lost...3 shop /3 sitting

May - APU quit: 4 days lost (Jackson shop)

May: Coolant system: 3 days lost plus 2 days sitting on load over the weekend plus 1.5 days sitting...before I blew the heck up.

This doesn't cover January when Atlanta gave me my truck back with leaking injector cups, having to get them repaired finally in Dallas and the fight over getting the oil leak in my rear structure repaired. Or the leaking transmission coolant lines in January as well.

Just as a note....I have one of the lowest payments in the program. Makes you wonder how the hay-ell the folks with higher payments make it huh?

    OMFG!!!! :biggrin_25524::biggrin_25513:

Get out of there YESTERDAY!!!!! Sorry to hear this! Has KLLM lost their collective corporate minds? There was a time (back in 2007) that I considered hopping on to the Co driver side at KLLM to run OTR from Fontana. MAN, I'm glad I didn't bite that bait!

I think I have spoken to you...fairly recently. Either that or you are the second (or is it the third?) driver who has told me about having this same problem - overtightening the oil pan plug. The person I spoke to got lucky in that a non-company shop managed to get the plug out without breaking the oil pan or the plug. Hope someone can do the same for you.

    It's just a #### shame.

That would be enough to simply break my heart, or make me kick somebody's #$$. :biggrin_25516: Now I understand why KLLM doesn't want drivers to have a gun in the truck. They would probably have a running classified ad in the paper for new mechanics.
What a shame that this company has come to this. They had been the company that new drivers were begging to work for, and the experienced drivers were there to stay. Now, they're no different than the worst of the big companies out there. In fact, I'd say there are some of the bigger low pay companies like Swift and England, that may actually be in the passing lane, going around KLLM as we speak. Sorry to hear of the big problems Toad. Stay in touch.
