Welcome aboard, fenderbender: I've been with KLLM about a year now, when I first started I was running 48 states and was dispatched out of Jackson. As hard as I tried I just couldn't get along with my FM. Finally I switched to the Mid-West fleet and have been happier than anywhere I've been in 3 years of driving. The folks in Portage really treat you well. Even though I am a company driver my FM actually will call and ask if I want/can make a run. They don't get all bent out of shape when I say no, I don't have the hours available to make it. They say OK, we'll find you something else. I would suggest to you that you stay out of the Jackson Terminal as much as possible, it is the quickest place to lose your load to an O/O. Doesn't seem to happen too much at the other terminals. Say hi to Ed in ATL, he aint as tough as he seems. I'm coming off of hometime in the morning so I probably won't be back on here for a while, but good luck.

Yeah you always lose some no matter what the company, lots of people like to tell lies on their applications and think no one will check it, or they don't bring all the documents and info with them, that they should have. I'll bet you had chicken for lunch and sweet tea. Don't let Ed give you to much grief about being a Yankee, just remind him who won. Your time with the trainer will be the toughest, most people aren't used to being away from home 6-8 weeks at a time. Also, KLLM has started sending people home after their done training and telling them to call every couple of days to see if they have a truck for you. Some people are waiting up to a month from what I hear. Hope that doesn't happen to you. But you'll probably be ready for a little time off anyway. Once you get through all the crap and get in your own truck, things will get alot better. Learn all you can about the reefer units from your trainer, like what to do when the red lights start flashing and where to add oil and so on. I had to learn that stuff on my own, because I had never pulled reefer before and the training they give you at orientation aint much help

Hope that's true about trucks being available. Be safe out there.

Big Jon sorry haven't heard anything about the rail stuff, never pulled any of them yet.
