Oh how I wish KLLM would extend their hiring area about 77 miles to the west. I'd be applying there now if that were the case.

I don't think they hire and train students to become entry level drivers.

I was prehired with prerequisites that I show up with a CDL A with Hazmat endorsements, pass their DOT physical, pass their written test, skills test, and drive test. As one fine fellow said 'when the tractor keys are in my hand' I can quit my other job. I arrive at their Terminal on Sunday; wish me luck.

The KLLM recruiter (a company employee, not an outside recruiter) got my info from the Sage school I attended. Good luck to you and I hope you get on with them.

Unless I'm not understanding you correctly, this statement is not true. KLLM does hire and train students.

Last time I talked to them (like a month or so ago) they did. They were gonna set me up at Coastal Truck Driving School, but turns out I'm just outside their hiring area.

Scarecrow,

I was expressly told I had to already have a CDL A. They are going to fully reimburse my tuition. But they did not indicate they are (edited) training anyone from the ground up (edited). You have to arrive ready to drive with a trainer for 6 weeks.

Where do you see information that they train drivers without a valid CDL (not a permit) ?

This is pretty much in line with what I'm going through. I thought your question was do they have their own school, like Swift or CR England. I do not believe they do. They hire graduates with a CDL A (not a permit) and then send you on the road with a trainer/mentor.

We have a different connotation of the term train. I was thinking that you were talking about OTR training with a trainer, not training to get your CDL.
