Great! Like I said, I wish you the best there.

If I were younger I might give flatbeds a shot. But I'm an old fart!

I hope to meet you out on the road someday.

In the meantime, I look forward to you keeping us updated on your experiences with the new company.

My advice would be to only go with kllm as a last resort! Might be ok just to get some driving time on your resume. My wife and I have been driving as a team for them for the last 9+ yrs. The first 61/2 to7 yrs. were great, made good money, got home when we wanted, no complaints. Then new investers came in, thats when everything started going down hill, cutting wages, benefits, vacation pay, you name it, all the good things about the company were either being cut or done away with. So instead of taking a pay cut we fell for the leasing scam, being we were a team it was a 2yr. lease with a $1.00 buyout at the end, 1st. yr. did ok, then they tried to starve us out, well that didnt work, I'M either to stupid or to stuborn to quit, not sure which, anyway we finished lease and now own the truck. after we got truck paid off, started looking for a different Co. to go to, I fell and broke my leg, (on the job injury) had surgery, and will be out for abt. 6mths. now my wife stuck there till i get back on my feet. To keep our insurance going. Last week found out i had been terminated about 2 weeks before, KllM did'nt even call, or send a termination letter, nothing at all from the Co. Pretty sorry way to treat an employee if you ask me.

May want to talk to an atty about that. I'm no lawyer, but I believe they may have stepped outside of the law with the way they did that, depending on what state.

    Oldtootr,

Call an attorney named Biggs there in Jackson. He has some experience with KLLM already.

    I'm just sayin' :biggrin_25524:

And if your IC contract reads like mine...they are REQUIRED by their own contract to give you notice of your termination in writing.

This is one of the things my former co-driver had to deal with in her split from KLLM. They had a local dispatcher call her and tell her that her contract was terminated. She called the head of the Lease program, verified the termination and then requested it in writing. She was then told "Oh, no...we can't do that . We don't do that." Then they started backpedaling, saying she WASN'T terminated...and then that she was (all verbal mind you)....shoot, for about 7-10 days she couldn't figure out if she WAS or WASN'T terminated...no joke!

Their own contract that their attorneys wrote and KLLM themselves provided, say that termination of the contract by EITHER party must be in writing.

Seriously....they have pretty much no idea what their own contracts say and contain. It'd almost be funny if the company wasn't going down the toity.
