So I'm about to end my tenure with this company, and would just like to share with folks how things have gone lately. I came to work here in 2007, and have seen everyone bail out for greener pastures. I guess its my time now.

I know its trendy for folks to bash the company but this is the absolute truth from the last few months.

1- miles have dropped significantly. Its like pulling teeth to get your load planner to keep you busy while out on dispatch. Over the last 3 months ive averaged less than 2k miles per week. Its sad that they expect drivers to stay around for that. The amount of time sitting under a load is mind boggling.

2- nobody is held accountable for screwups - drivers leaving dirty trailers, broken/unsafe trailers, and customer service royally screwing a driver by putting wrong dates on appointment information. Happened a few times lately, and every time i get a snarky message by someone in jackson that they made a mistake and accidentally put down a friday date when it actually doesnt deliver until monday or tuesday of the next week and "HAVE A NICE WEEKEND' as youre left sitting at a truck stop. Drivers consistently drop trailers with busted hubs, seals, lights, bad brakes - yet nothing every happens as a result. They just keep doing it and you will be the one screwed bc you gotta go take it to the shop.

3- night and weekend dispatch has become increasingly worthless. Yelling at drivers, hanging up on them, cursing at them. When does it stop? That whole 'respect for the driver' motto is gone from here.

4- dispatchers and loadplanners are bold face liars. They will screw you over to benifit thier favorites. You get the 1500 mile run then get stopped for a swapout because someone else wants it and you get the crappy 700 mile 4 day load.

5- qualcomm and phone systems constantly going down. I think that anyone who experienced this last weekend can vouche for that.

6- shop staff is worse. They fired the knowledgeable guys years ago and now have a constant rotation of mechanics. Can never get things fixed on the first try, have to put in the shop multiple times b4 its fixed.

7- tattle tales. Company has become full of snakes. I've had jackson call me up because i didnt have a padlock on my trl. When i was deadheading. Another driver saw it and tattled rather than talking to me. Had anotner instance when i walked across the street to a lions den. Got a phone call about that. Parked at a truck stop casino between baton rouge and lafayette. Got a phone call about that because some tattle tale saw me parked there and called jackson. I can understand drugs and alcohol or driving unsfae, but cmon. Didnt realize i worked for the Morality Police. I used to be one of the guys goin down the road to wave to our other drivrs, but id rather just give people the bird than to talk to them.

Ive already lined myself up for a new job in the next few weeks, still tryin to make my mind up wether to put in a notice. Not like theyre doing me any favors why should i for them? Id just rather drop this pos off in jackson. Clean out. Walk away.

Just my two or three nickels tho. Yall be safe.

You failed to mention who you drove for...unless that's not important, and all you wanted to do was complain on the forum about how crappy your job is.

I was like the other fellow, I saw this post in new posts area. So I too was unsure whom you were posting about. Best of luck on your new path!

I would say that all of that is accurate and I believe every single word of that. Nothing like picking up a trailer with an outside dual ripped to shreads that's been pulled 500 miles and parked at the yard, license plate light out and missing a mud-flap. Constant occurance. But the previous driver just did not notice that for some reason; just drop it and leave it for the next guy. This place I just hired in with makes you do detailed pre-trip and post trip inspections and you have to turn in an actual sheet with trailer and license plate number etc. If you leave something like that and don't catch it / report it; you're in deep trouble. Every trailer I pick up here has nothing wrong with it. AMAZING. All the lights work, has both mudflaps, no huge holes in the side from somebody backing into something (didn't notice that either I guess, just throw some duct tape on it), all tires inflated and in good shape. I've said it before and I'll say it again; it's all management or lack there of. Should not be the drivers burden to sit for 3.5 hours getting multiple things fixed on a trailer that he just picked up. Enjoy your new job and drive safe!!

Sometimes you have to look at the header to see where you are when you search new posts. I search new posts all the time, so I have to scroll back to the top of the page quite a lot.

So I guess the question is, did Clem (KLLM) decided to hire rejects from Knight's management, to run the place? Because that sounds just like the way Knight used to operate. . .

I honestly dont know. The sad thing is that nobody out here is happy unless they work out of the portage terminal. Every solo otr driver i met over the last six months is pissed - even met one dude who was a newbie company driver at the J in Witchita Falls that had been swapped out FIVE TIMES in three days. How does that happen or even better how can any company let that happen. The only otr people who are happy are the trainers because they get all the runs cross country and have a student to pump sunshine and happiness up their bums because they are paying the guys truck off. A good friend of mine decided to team a few months ago and quit because he was only getting 3k miles. Think about that one. Two people splitting 3k miles. Sad.

Notice how those million miler stickers on the doors are becoming fewer and fewer.

Well, it's a shame that it's happening. I got helped out by a KLLM driver back when I was a rookie one time. He just couldn't say enough good things about KLLM back then.

I used to love this place and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking for a reefer CAREER not just job. Id help out folks as much as i can, especially new drivers looking for help or get a little advice. What i did not want to do was train or team because i cant git sleep while bumping down the road.

Another thing i wanted to add is that preplans are a thing of the past. I can cojnt on one hand how many times ive gotten one since the beginning of year. Even on the rare occassion that i get to drop and hook ill never know what im hooking up to until hours after i drop. About a month ago i went to our cryovac customer in iowa park to drop. Got there at 8 didnt get hook info until 3pm. Burn up clock so fast like that but planners and dispatchers dont care. They just want you to be on time even if it means runn illegal. Theyll never tell you that on qualcom but on phone they will stress to get it there or else.

And bigdog is right - nobody in jackson has ever been behind the wheel of a truck with the exception of ryder in logs.
