I am a newbie that is considering KLLM. I have heard KLLM takes the lumber pay out of the drivers pay. It takes weeks to get repaid by KLLM. You have to just about be a CPA to keep up with the lumper pay (You better have good records). Does anyone know if this is true? I am new and don't know the process. Don't know if this is common practice. What I heard was a driver thinking he was going to make a pretty good paycheck get paid very little because the Lumper Pay wasn't included in his check.

I think you mean LUMPER pay. You better change that before everybody gets here.

I never had any problems with being reimbursed for lumper pay, CAT scales, etc. I had a pretty decent filing system when I drove for them - I bought one of those soft folders with different filing pockets, similar to THIS, and would keep each weeks bills, receipts, etc all paperclipped to the same cover sheet with the PO#'s. Each week the pay settlements came in, I'd check off which PO's were paid, and if one wasn't I'd be on the horn with Payroll/Billing/Dispatch immediately. As long as you keep up with that stuff and don't get pissy with payroll/billing on the phone if one isn't paid, there shouldn't be a problem with it. Just keep track of your bills/receipts/po's for each trip, and take the extra 5 minutes to verify your po's with what comes over the qualcomm for each paycheck.

The most important thing to getting reimbursements is to submit PO requests after every trip while YOUR DISPATCHER (not overnight or weekend because they are basically worthless) is on duty, otherwise it won't get taken care of. Also, set aside a day to where you routinely stop to make sure your paperwork is in order and submitted to payroll - I usually did mind on Sunday mornings since our paperwork was due Monday night, gave me time to find stuff that I hadn't submitted and find a Lowes/Pilot on the route to pull into, or write a postit down to put on my dash that I needed to submit for a PO first thing Monday morning. For the last couple of months I was always parked on Sundays anyway, so that made it convenient based on the idiots that didn't know how to keep me rolling.

It's up to you whether you want to be organized and keep track of everything, or if you want to blame everyone else and not get paid.

I really appreciate you guys. As you can tell by my spelling for Lumper (Lumber). I am a Newbie. I am eager to learn and want to do a good job. I just hope they don't take advantage of my giving 100% like you Zantrix. I have read your threads Zantrix and they really took advantage of you. I hate to see a company or individuals taking advantage of people giving it all they have. They broke your spirit for KLLM and that is wrong. I was in business with several people working for me. I could never do that to them. I held them in high esteem for making my business very successful. I left that business and my brother runs it now. The same guys are there and they want me to come back. I want to follow a dream of driving a truck though. I hope KLLM wakes up. I have noticed that some of these threads go back to 2007. If you look at the beginning of these threads on KLLM all the people have great things to say about KLLM. Through the years problems started ac curing. Maybe the original owners retired or something? New people come in that have all these new ideas on making MONEY. Most of the times these NEW ideas exclude employee's. New ideas have no clue about employee loyalty and how it makes the company great. Employees can make or break your business. With the treatment they are receiving at KLLM this will back fire like many other companies in the USA. hopefully KLLM will see there mistakes before it is too late.
Again, Thank you all for giving me info.. It is greatly appreciated.

Southern Tire Mart bought out 95% of this company - and according to a few friends that I made while working there, that is when the bottom started to fall out and a lot of the old timers started leaving. As I said in other posts, look at how few Million Milers are left.

I had issues with this. I finally started making them give me express codes for a ComChek to pay for lumpers. That way it bypasses your pay completely and is paid for by the company directly.

Get authorization for the lumper fee from dispatch after hours, from John Cruz in OECD (outside expense control), pay for it with a com check that you register, send in Mac 56 for the expense make certin that the following info is on the receipt: name, address, telephone number, and tax ID number..scan it in ASAP. To be paid on Friday it has to be scanned in before midnight central time Monday
