I'm saddened to be looked at as a joke or to have the blame put on my husband who worked for KLLM and did everything according to the laws, followed instruction, and did everything to the best of his ability. I am new here and somehow 2 of my more detailed messages were lost. I'm getting the hang of this, so please be patient with me. I have posted a bit of a more detailed reply that I hope won't be laughed at or ridiculed. What KLLM is doing to their unsuspecting new drivers is a serious issue and one that should be taken seriously. I'm sure from the likes of what I've already seen on this forum, that what I say will be picked apart, scrutinized , and have made fun and light of. I am not taking the time to make others awre of this terrible company because I have nothing better to do or because my husband is a bad employee that want's to simply bash a good company due to his own short comings.
I simply want to help others before they get screwed like my husband did. Thank you for understanding and I hope that we helped someone keep away from this horrible company.

You don't need to convince us gdarkhorse, we know.

KLLM is a typical bottom feeder outfit, along the likes of many others.

well, i can through second hand info back up what gdark is saying. a friend of mine was all gung ho about driving for kllm...the best thing since sliced bread. their lease purchase is a "walk away" lease and you own the truck at the end of the nlease, both of which he was looking for to be "smart". and for about 6 months they were a great company...kept him moving and he was making good money. then the miles stopped (surprise surprise surprise). now my buddy probably wouldnt be as harsh as gdark if he was giving a review on them, but thats cause hes way too laid back, not because they didnt do him wrong.

the sad truth is lease purchase deals that you find through companies are generally bad deals. the company has WAY more incentive to see you fail than to see you succeed. if you run for them, and pay the note on THEIR truck for several months, and take on all the risks, responsilbility, and costs associated with that truck, then if they get the truck BACK its free money to them. if anyone is considering lease purchase because they cant get credit any other way, by all means GO TO A 3RD PARTY. lone mountain leasing is but one of these options. road runner is an o/o company that deals with 3 3rd party leasing companies. (lone mountain may be one of the 3, i dont know) going with a 3rd party for your lease purchase means you get the security of knowing that if you and your company are not a good fit, then you can take YOUR TRUCK and go elsewhere. as long as you make the agreed upon payments to the 3rd party lender, they have no other tie to you, they dont give you work, you get that either on your own or through the company you lease on to.

so i 2nd the op...do NOT go to kllm for your lease purchase deal. in fact, do NOT go to ANY company to both lease your truck and hire on with. its a bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad decision.

for the reasons outlined already, or do you just post without reading the thread? do what you want, though. i dont expect, or in fact WANT, anyone to listen to what i say. i want them to be encouraged by what i say to do some more investigation of their own. to ask other current drivers about the pros and cons of the choice they are considering- face to face. to READ what they sign. or to do none of that, and go blindly and stupidly into the bad deal they were warned against making. its all a choice. all the forum is is an attempt to share information and opinions. if you choose to ignore that information and those opinions, then good luck...you will need it.

KLLM will say that you don't have to go into the lease/purchase program, BUT you'll be told that they're phasing out the company trucks. So they say that there is no work for company drivers. Therefore go into lease/purchase or sit there with no work at all.
They'll also convince you that it's better to go into the lease/purchase program because o/o's came refuse loads that they don't want. What they don't tell you is that if you refuse a load dispatch will tell you that if you refuse this load, that you'll sit there for a VERY long time with no dispatched jobs. So either take the load with hundreds of dead head miles (which you have to pay the fuel for) or sit in below zero temps for who knows how long.
Also they say that you'll get home time and holiday time. Good luck requesting home time because they'll do everything possible to give you jobs as far away from home as possible. Also holidays are a joke! They want you to give advanced notice that you want to take holiday time off and you do so. Once the holidays are close they'll conveniently not find the request.
All those great miles which they say you'll average is also a joke! At the start they'll give you a couple of decent runs, then suddenly you'll get tons of dead head miles (which YOU have to pay the fuel for) and plenty of switch outs! So at the end of the week you'll be lucky if you have enough to be able to pay any bills and buy canned foods to survive on....and that's BEFORE taxes!
As for taking your mandatory sleep time, that's impossible! They can see that you're in the sleeper and have driven all of your available hours. They even know where you are. But once you're asleep you'll get bombarded with qualcom messages and phone calls asking where you are, what your ETA is, on and on! Day dispatch (RICKY ALEXANDER) refuses to look at the the qualcom messages that took place during the night shift. If he did he would have all of his questions answered without having to wake up and hassle the driver. But his reasoning for this is "I can't take the time to look at what's going on with my drivers". BUT he'll have plenty of time to blow up the qualcom with messages and make phone calls!
Have a problem or a question? Each department will give you a different answer and each department tells you not to listen to the other departments! So no matter who you listen to, you'll be the one to get the blame at the end or end up more confused that you did at the start. You'll follow orders and still get blamed for following orders. Dispatch will give you loads which they KNOW will be late and B**ch you out because it's late! They'll tell you that you're getting a drop and hook (after you've dead headed hundreds of miles because your told that if you don't take the load, that you'll be sitting a VERY long time), therefore you'll have time to make it to the receiver, BUT once you get there you find out that it's a live load which takes hours, then you're the one to blame because it's late. And of course dispatch takes no blame for their own mess ups. BUT they'll tell the driver "you really botched this one up!". This is even after you made them aware of the situation well in advance.
And why do they make drivers pay weekly for crappy health insurance that they won't even get for 3 or 4 months? Where does that money go to if you're not even insured?
I have to wonder how many times a truck will be proudly driven home to be shown to different happy (for the time being) families, only to end up taken away from the hard working driver, and to go back to the yard for another sucker to make payments on it. Eventually this truck will be paid off and the only owner will be KLLM. And there's always a steady influx of new suckers every week.
These are very nasty people playing very nasty games with peoples lives. For KLLM it's a win win situation. For the driver it's a nightmare.

I have never seen a "fleece" purchase scheme that worked to the drivers advantage. If they did, and every driver completed their lease money ahead, these companies would not need to make press releases in the little truck stop books about lease completions, and lease completion bonuses. And as many companies as there are that run these lease purchase scams, them little books would be nothing but press releases if lease purchases where above board. There very well may be companies with a legit lease purchase, but I've certainly never heard of them.

We all know all those so called bottom feeders. Kllm is one of them. The company lease purchas plans should be avoided, get your own loan if that is your interest.

Although my problem with this thread is where are the original drivers who lived this hell? I have heard from a wife or girlfriend and a friend of, both second hand information and subject to falsehoods and exagerations. If it was so terrible why are those who lived it not screaming bloody murder themselves? I would rather hear from them and not a second party. Not that I feel all is wrong, but I like it better from the horses mouth so to speak.

Then again one persons garbage is another persons gold. Meaning that one person may find KLLM a living hell, while another may think its a great place to work. Each to their own.
