I was in Longmont the other night and I talked to another KLLM driver who drove for FFE for 21 years. He asked me how I was doing, and before I would answer, I asked him how he was doing. The first thing he said was, "There's no communication." Exactly.

The driver I talked to also said that he talks to the people at the shop in Lancaster and all they can talk about is how often they will change the numbers on the same truck. It's like a revolving door. One driver leases for a few weeks and gives up. They change the number and get it ready for the next guy. Patience is one of the keys to success in this business. I have only been driving for 18 months, but that is one of the things I have learned.

Things are getting better, but it's because I ask lots of questions, and when something does not seem right, I ask more questions. If that does not work, I call the shipper or receiver myself to make sure I have the right info.

All companies are going to have issues, so I might as well stay at a company where I already know what the issues are and how to avoid them. KLLM has lots and lots and LOTS of money. It's going to be a long time (if ever) before they ever have payroll or fuel purchase issues. That's what matters most. I always know I'm going to get paid for the work I do, and when I need fuel, my card will turn on the pump. I can work through everything else.

My issues with KLLM are probably the same I would have with most companies: Loads that are late when you get the dispatch, trouble communicating with dispatchers, road breakdown, etc. As for the OP, he is wrong on many counts. One thing I am not happy with is lack of western area driving. With FFE, I saw a good bit of driving in the west. With KLLM, it has been all east. I heard that KLLM gives teams, and trainer/trainees the long distance western stuff. I hope that changes. KLLM is actually probably superior to many other reefer companies, so I would not make judgement based upon the OP's rant.

Western regional does a lot of CA - TX runs

But I will admit, Im getting burnt out on OTR.
Since I team, I cant get out of the truck and enjoy my surroundings on my breaks.
Which means not much exercise and a fatter ###. lol
Some weeks we get so busy I have to tell dispatch to gimme a break to showr and eat a hot meal.

But the lack of communication the past few months has really gotten my redhead side agitated.
Today I went to pick up a load that didnt exist. this load was supposed to get me home to
    see my brand new niece.

If my tank were over half full, I'd bobtail the whole 1040 miles.

But at least more days than not, Im happy I chose KLLM.
And from what I hear chatting with people, regional guys are the happiest and best taken care of

Thanks to everyone for your posts. I applied to KLLM this past Saturday. I called them Monday to follow up. Recruiters all busy, left message, maybe I'll hear something today.

I am curious to know what changed your mind in four weeks that is making you leave KLLM for JCT?

Yes, I received a call back from recruiter that Monday, but not in their hiring area. They couldn't guarantee me home time due to no loads to the northeast.

Im a KLLM leaser and am say right now that all of the above statements about KLLM are false except the starting pay of .32, which is at least .05 a mile better than all the competitors. The only problem right now that exists at KLLM is the bunch of college boys they have doing the trip planning and that they have taken all power and control away from the fleet managers. Results.......lazy, stupid, poor time managers that call themselves drivers get as many high mile, good loads as do the rest of us who bust our humps and beg for 3000 miles a week, run on time and don't destroy the equipment. People like the above want to drive 8 hours a day and sleep away the rest.
Just another rookie wanting something for nothing.
KLLM has by far the best lease program in the industry and their equipment is top notch, other wise I would not be there. End of story.
