08 International - You can't say anything nice or informative, don't say anything at all..

Anon6655 - not sure about FFE, but I've seen where a Comcheck for paid orientation/travel reimbursement was sent to the truck on your first dispatch. Pretty handy if you need cash to tide you over before that first deposit hits....doesn't hurt to ask, though if they don't tell you in class...

Why not ask us? Isn't this what these forums are for???? The guy probably couldn't get the question answered in a direct fashion at the terminal - with 21 years experience, you - above all others - should know how truthful, direct and forthcoming companies are when dealing with new drivers!....

I know what you mean ,, I was just messing with him,, but you think how hard it is to find drivers the companys would help more but I rembember when I was at a new company they told you everything you need to or want to know, just how things have changed over the years, its been so long now since I was a company driver , please forgive me

You will get your Comdata card on Friday, or the last day of your orientation. The Comdata card will have $500 on it the minute they hand it to you. Once you receive your first dispatch you can also request a $300 advance.

You can do whatever you want, but, try to keep the $500 on your card if you can. You can use it for emergencies. Since I came from FFE, I was paid a $2500 conversion bonus. That $2500, and the $500 for orientation, is still on my card. I consider it free money, so it's going to stay there as long as I am with KLLM, or until I have an emergency and I need it. Yes, I do realize it could be earning interest, but when you consider how easy it is to access the money in an emergency, I consider it as being in the best place.

One other bit of advice. Make sure you go to the log department, or call them, and verify that they have you assigned in the e-log system. Then log in to your Qualcomm the minute you get your truck. Do this before 4pm Central time on Friday. That way if there are any issues you can get them fixed. I was ready to go on Saturday, but when I tried to log in I could not. I had to wait until Monday, when the log department was open again, and have them fix it.

What about the Drug test results? I know I'll pass, but it's good to know the results just so you know they did get them back.
