I personally don't think pregancy was the issue. If you are given a load you are "usually" to accept it. I guess 700 miles is better than no miles.
Again may drivers look at the total miles and would rather sit, but failing to understand hey it will keep me moving and that's what matters!

If you refuse freight it is a termination in most companies. It's like telling any employee to do something and they tell you N0!

I would say you had some warnings about refussing freight prior to the final instance.

I am not judging at all some companies are in the wrong and maybe you should go for unemployment

I'm sorry that you feel I misread your "bulletin". Please understand that it's very difficult to read a lengthy, poorly punctuated post when every word is capitalized and the post is one long paragraph. I admit -- I struggled with it.

Now... with that being said... you mentioned the 10 pound restriction when you spoke of getting your belongings out of your truck after being fired. I understand that. But was the weight restriction placed on you during the period between which you were fired and the time you left your truck? If not, I'm simply saying it could have been a factor in their decision.

I'm not a trucker, and I might be way out in left field here, but I would imagine that there are several functions of being a driver that would require you to exert the equivalent of lifting 10 pounds. For example, a driver just doesn't step into a truck. It's more of a "climb" -- and I believe most trucks even have a vertical bar that a driver can grasp to help "pull" him/herself into the cab. That alone would probably be more than a 10 pound exertion.

Usually severe lifting restrictions indicate a high-risk pregnancy... and trucking isn't kind to a body. Maybe the company felt that you were too much of a risk to remain a driver during your pregnancy. And your refusal of the load just made it easier for them to let you go.

YOUR posts are very difficult to read. Perhaps you should not write with capitals and make an effort to break up paragraphs so that our members can understand and read your posts better.

it would seem that txrose has little concept pertaining to grammar. her posts are indeed, difficult to read. It makes me wonder if other factors were involved in her being terminated.

First off, she needs to find a lawyer.
What they did to her is patently illegal.

Not only did her company illegally take money out of her paycheck but they discriminated against her on the basis of her pregnancy.

Pregnancy discrimination is against the law.
She has many avenues of rebutal & legal precedence on her side.

A decent lawyer will have that company on its knees in short order.

What do you mean refusing a load usually means firing. Many times my wife has said, "heck no I don't want that load." and that has been the end of it. Her dispatch just finds someone else and if he could not maybe he would call her back and say,"Please take this load I am in a real bind with it". And my wife would probably say OK I will help you out. One guy that my wife works with will only take loads from toronto to vancouver. Thats it he won't go anywhere else and he has been with the company 10 years doing that. One day in the middle of the winter my wife and I were sitting waiting for a load and the dispatch called with a load to winnipeg and my wife said, "come on get me something warm. Dispatch says ok give me a few minutes. He comes back 10 min later and says OK I got one to Mississippi, hows that? My wife says thank you very much and offwe go.

I agree. It sounds like they broke about 50 laws. Besides that...what kind of a scumbag throws a pregnant woman out on the street in a strange city. How are these people not afraid to walk out of their building?
