I'm headed out to Oregon and a final stop In Washington as we speak. Running solo you mostly end up in the east but you do get out west on occasion.

Sounds like you got some good miles on that one. I have it the other way around sitting 30 miles from del got here noon on fri and does not del till sun at 800. called them said not likely to get unloaded early, will call tomarrow and hope maybe. Last time i went to washington i only had 1 tote 2500 lbs from Omaha all the way to seatle, made the hills in Oragan and washington easy. What do you think you will pu, i pu potatos but that was in nov.

I was glad to hear that they mostly run east, but that you get out west from time to time. Do you know, or did you guys already discuss if you drove the equipment home during your home time? It's a bigger deal if you live close to 100miles away from where you have to leave it. I'm less than 50m north of downtown ATL in what you might call the outskirts now that the growth has slowed down. Thanks everyone, I enjoy reading the forums.

 

I'm hoping that they start hiring again soon. I talked to my recruiter but she said that they are not hiring for the texas regional or any other position at this time until April.

 

It was that you had to live more than 100 miles away from a terminal or a dropyard in order to take your truck home. We used to live 110 miles from Lathrop so my hubby took his truck home. But last summer at about the same time that we moved 240 miles away from the yard, word went out that you now had to live at least 150 miles away to drive home. But, they also told him that he couldn't take it home anymore becaue we now live too far away. He knows of people living at that 100 mile mark that are still taking their trucks home. So basically, no clue, but that is our experience.

 

Orientations are full up until mid May. Average miles are 2500-2700 according to a recruiter.

 

I have to agree with road toad. I can't complain at all driving for kllm. I've only been there for 3 months and average about 2700 miles a week, got 3400 last week.(I had to alter the log book a little, but hey, we're all sinners

 

Now that I have time to breathe....

After having almost two solid weeks where I felt like someone had put my karma in the kitchen blender (over $500 in detention pay this week alone...nuff said) I decided it was time for some hometime to see if I can shake off this bad mojo. It was pretty much two weeks straight out of Murphy's Law. If it could go wrong...it did.

So I'm chillin' at home, catching up on some domestic chores and kissing baby noses

On the left (with me) is Ata Al Fouad, a.k.a. "Heart" (his name translates to "Gift of the heart"), a bay colt (boy). On the right is Amirah Silk-N-Satin, a.k.a. "Satin", a bay filly (girl). Both are by my stallion and Heart is my very first homebred straight Egyptian.

Arriving home I found my future truck dog waiting for me

I've named her Calypso. She is a red merle of unknown origins and she has the most lovely green eyes! Best of all she has a fantastic disposition and is wicked smart. I put her through some basic testing and you could really see her thinking as she tried to figure out what I was asking her to do. In fact, when she thinks, she sits, thinks about it for a little bit and then, when she thinks she knows the answer she'll try it out.

I'll have my pet deposit paid in three more weeks and she'll have the bulk of her shots completed by then. I have to call Safety in the morning and see what I need to do to have her approved but I don't foresee having any issues. I'm obsessive when it comes to vaccinations, health certificates and obedience training.

Yep, that's the main incentive to go O/O, being able to have a pet in the truck.
