I dont think you understand my point here. What I'm saying is that all this jibber jabber online about whether or not the company is in trouble is moot. If you really want to know if they are in trouble, look up their financials. Anyone can do it. I personally am not interested in it. But those who would accuse KLLM of being in trouble, should post a little data to back up their claims.

I have a pretty good dispatcher, and she keeps me rolling. I've talked to several drivers who do the same as I do, and some that roll 2400-2600 a week, and they say that's fine with them. I guess it depends on how you work the system and what you want to get out of it. I stay out 4 to 5 weeks. What I'm finding is, if your dispatcher and load planners trust you to get the load there on time and do your job, they will put more on you.
My way of working is to get it there as early as possible, keep the left door shut, try to get unloaded as early as possible and let dispatch know you will be ready to go as soon as you see that you are getting unloaded. Let them know, "Hey, I'll be available in a short time, gimme something." I shop at walmart, keep plenty of food and drinks in my truck. Truck stops are for fuel and sleeping, when you can find a space. I sleep at alot of shippers and recievers, when possible, and some rest areas.
Some truck stops will take up a half hour just getting into and out of them. I prefer to fuel there when I have to, but stop and make a sandwich at a roadside rest area, and get back on the road. Before I take off for the day, I slice up some cheese, cut up ham or lunch meat, and have a pack of crackers close by my cooler. It let's me munch or lunch while I drive. Grapes, chunks of melon in a bowl, all keep you rolling and avoid the "trucker traps". I drive mostly during the day, because I just don't like night driving. I'll do it when I have to, but just prefer to drive in the daylight. I start earlyat about 5 AM while traffic is light, and go till it gets dark or I get where I'm going. That is how I work. It just happens to work for me. Others may choose another path.
Thats good to hear about your success.. I can't wait until I finish college so I can hit the road... I work at Flying J so I hear alot of stories form drivers.. I just want the experience as a truck driver... Well have you seen Cali lately.. I see alot of KLLM drivers here in my area on Interstate 78 here in Mississippi..(Olive Branch/Memphis Tn) area... IS this one of you all heavy freight lanes?? Be safe talk to you later.

+1

I seriously doubt you will have ANY trouble whatsoever getting a copy of your cert from ASD. Seriously. Pick up the phone.

Yeah Jarhead, you're right. I think if you really look, you will see ALL trucking companies are down right now, regardless of who they are. Everyone is cutting expenses and trimming fat. Just a fact of life right now. I can only say that, I'm working as much as I can take right now. I could do less if I wanted, and may be more if I could legally. I can only tell people what I'm seeing in this company. If they want to call me a KLLM Cheerleader, then so be it. My company has given me a good job, treated me well, my pay is always correct, and they are totally truthful with me. Therefore I support my company. Are they perfect? Nope, but find me a trucking company that is, and I'll leave KLLM right now. I just support the company I work for, and choose to keep a positive outlook for the future. They tell me we are strong and lean as a company, and they haven't lied to me about anything yet. So for now, I will trust them, that they are being truthful with me.

That, in bold, is probably the most important thing, at least from a Drivers' perspective. Nothing at all wrong with supporting your company IMO. That is the way it used to be in this country, somehow that disappeared. If you support your company, and perform in a way to save them or earn them more money, you are helping to ensure that they stay solvent and strong, as well as keeping your own source of income. I have no issues whatsoever with having pride in the company I work for because it will benefit me in the long run.

Drive safe, (former)newbie!

Does KLLM offer a school to go to or do you need to already have your CDL before they will even consider you?

I talked to a recruiter from KLLM yesterday and I am to report to Atlanta Dec.1 for orientation.
