As a driver for KLLM for the last year, my time here hasn't been all to bad. As a rule I don't normally have anything to bad to say about this company. Generally I would recommend people to come here. But over the last 6 months thing have gotten worse. Just found out today were getting a pay cut, granted economic times are bad. As of October 5th all drivers are going to be getting paid 2 cents less per mile. This is shortly after they lowered new hire pay from 34 to 32 cents per mile. Just a few other things they have cut over the past year.
    1. suspened 401k company match
    2. increased med premims
    3. 37 non-driving jobs cut
    4. salaries have been frozen for the past 3 yrs for non-driving employees
    5. max payout for vacation pay is now 500max.

But for the most part its not to bad here. My biggest complaint though has to be the lack of matenece of equipment. Were over staffed and lacking frieght. If any other drivers here have any other information please let me know.

By what I have been reading, most companies are cutting pay and benefits. It may not seem like a good move, but actually is a smart move. You have to admit-it's better to make a little less money, than NO money at all. KLLM is a well managed company, and you would most likely do well to stick it out with them. And no, I not affiliated with them, or any other trucking company. Good Luck.........

I've been with KLLM or Klem as we say about 6mos. I have to say great Company for the most part!! I just received the pay cut...sucks!! It seems as if we're over-staffed with out enough equipment at current time. I'e averaged 3K a week and 2K a week. Freight runs heavy and then light. You won't due any type of road test until after 6wks training on the road with trainer. Then you upgrade and then you need to complete your 1st 90dys accident free with all loads and on-time performance!! Good luck!!

Been there done that already. The 1st month of being solo is when I made the most money here. The normal week was between 3100-3300. Then has gone down quite a bit sense then. Currently I'm getting between 1800-2000 and I'm sorry to say, thats just not worth the time of being gone for weeks on end. Honestly with what i make now it is more worth while to work at home, in the end the same amount of pay. I gotta ask, how long have you been with KLLM and what job do you hold? Cause personally you sound like your part of the non-driving staff.

I have been at KLLM since 5/09 and it has been ok. I was running pretty hard for a while but it seems I also have slowed down. I think they are a good company to start with but I can make more money running local when I get 1 year recent experience under my belt. I think KLLM is falling under the category of "Good place to start then move on." I'm getting ready to team with a friend of mine to see if we can get more miles.

I can only speak for running mid west regional. I currently been running on average 1500-1900 per week. There have been weeks up here that I run 2600-2800. But that only happens once in a while and I really have to keep on them about keeping me moving. When I was OTR I was getting around 2800-3200 a week. That was running real hard and cheating the books abit. The best way to get the miles here it seems is to cheat the books and not run legal. Granted you can make money here running 100% legal, but with 62mph trks its hard to make good money that way. But the sad thing is that 9 outta 10 drivers here cheat the books and honestly everyone does.

The 401K, non-driving cuts frozen salaries etc, was done quite a while back. That was trimming down of the non-driving staff and trimming the fat. The CEO of the company also cut his salary by 20% and refused to cut driver salries till now. It will not effect new drivers at the current rate. It will not effect trainers or lease operators. ALL companies are squeezing and cutting now. I appreciate the fact that KLLM has refused to touch the drivers for over 3 years, while cutting everyone else. Most of the drivers I've talked to say they don't like it, but it's not going to hurt them too badly and they are glad to have a job these days in trucking. There are alot of them out there right now that can't get a job and when they do, it's 25 or 26 cents compared to 32 to start. Sure my miles go up and down, but they've been mostly good. Some companies are sweating because they have customers who are shutting down completely and not only are they losing the business, but are left holding the bill for prior loads and having to pay drivers. Believe me, KLLM is doing better than most right now and they are still strong.
