I've read threw just about every post, on every thead about KLLM on this website and still have a few questions.

What Does KLLM Allow and or Not Allow in the Trucks?

Such as: Inverters if you can have them is there a size limit?, Microwaves, VuCubes or other satilight setups, or anything else you can think of.

I would also like to thank everyone of you who have posted about KLLM, it has been extreamly usefull and has made my decision to Apply at KLLM in a few months when I am old enough to drive for them, so much so I've already gone to Truck Driving school to get my CDL when I was 18, and in order to work for KLLM I have to pay to go through driving school all over again lol but it Deffinatly seems worth it to work for a Company that has employees that actully like it.

Thanks in Advanced for any info,
    American-Trucker

I 've read pretty much all of the threads here for KLLM and it seems that when you call them Mike is the one that answers. Mike Burrell is my recruiter and I should be going to Atlanta for orientation Dec. 1.
I didn't know that Mike was cloned. LOL:biggrin_2551:

You can have an inverter, as long as it plugs into the 12 volt socket. You cannot have one that hooks to the battery, unless you obtain permission from the shop. As far as coollers, fridges, I use a standard Kool-a-tron kooler to keep my food in. I don't need a freezer, and this thing works just fine. I have a lunchbox cooker and 12v water heater pot, for oatmeal, tea and such. My lunchbox cooker heats soup, chili, stew, raviolli in about 15 minutes. I also occassionally cook rice and a chicken breast in it as I roll. It'll be ready later when you stop for fuel or a break. Some of the guys (and girls) who have an APU, have a fridge or mickey-wave, but I'm not one of those that have an APU. I think you can have an inverter if you're on the Lease Program, but not company trucks. I already had a satellite radio in my truck. The only thing I had to do was call and set it up and pay the monthly fee. No satellite units for TV, unless it's your truck.

I do have 2 more questions for you tho, about the inverter so I can have a inverter installed in a company truck as long as i get permission from the shop? and as far as the satellite what about if you got the mount that just clamps to the grab handle on the back of the cab to mount a vucube? thanks again for all your help

You have to get permission from the shop, but it doesn't happen very often, unless you have a medical problem that requires it, and they install it. As far as any other inverters I'm not sure. I haven't heard of anyone else getting permission.
I use the regular 12 v socket type to run my Bose IPOD Sound Dock, or my laptop. I really don't use anything big enough to run off of a big inverter. As far as mounts go, you can have just about anything that mounts to an existing handle, bracket or hole. No holes drilled unless you get permission. Alot of drivers have satellite radio pods, (if your truck doesn't already have one, since all 2008 or later trucks, KLLM uses the qualcomm pod for satellite radio use in addition to the qualcomm I was told) TV antennas, etc mounted to mirror or hand rail brackets. You can always contact KLLM during the weekdays between 8 and 4 and ask for the shop manager. They will advise you further.

I'm a company driver and like newbie, I don't have a APU on my truck, but I have a 3000 watt inverter connected directly to the batteries (installed by kllm shop for me), microwave, fridge/freezer, tv and satelite receiver that all run on 110v. I do have to idle my truck when using the microwave, but since we are allowed to idle up to 40% (non apu equipped trucks) without penalty this is not a problem. So far this 1/4 my idle percentage is 14.8%.

The only requirement the shop gave me regarding the power inverter is it had to be equipped with a low voltage shut down to be acceptable, size did not matter.

I was also told as long as I didn't drill any holes or do any electical work without permission from the shop supervisor I could put whatever I wanted in the truck.

Thank you very much swamper, thats what I wanted to hear. I was starting to get a little nervous because I thought I finnally found a great company to start my career with, but without an inverter life would kinda suck lol if you dont mind me asking what terminal did you got to have this stuff installed? im just wundering cuz from what i've heard on this forum is that stuff can vary from terminal to terminal within the same company, thnx again for the help

Jackson wouldn't install mine. They said they would for Lease trucks, but not company trucks. Said it played hell with the batteries. I gotta admit, the batteries take a beating in a truck with all of the "items for living" we have. I've done fine with nothing but 12 volt stuff, and adapted to life wiithout a Mickey-Wave or Freezer. Even just leaving the cooler plugged in over night would trigger the battery shut off, and in cold weather, the truck might not start. My suggestion is idle, if you have an invertor or lots or 12 V items and no APU. I idle when I want to and don't worry about percentages and notices on the qualcomm. If it's comfortable AND SAFE to sleep with windows and vents cracked open, I do it. When it's cold, I idle to stay warm. When it's hot, I idle to stay cool, or run lights, or appliances. When I'm in Southern Louisiana or Misssissippi in August, and it's 90 degrees at night and the mosquitos are attacking, I'm not sleeping with my windows open and a plastic Chinese 12 volt fan plugged in. Ain't happening!!! The office people who scream about the idle policies, don't go home at night and sweat and toss and turn or freeze while they try to sleep. So why should I? They wouldn't do it if they needed to sleep after a full day and having to wake up at 3 AM to make a delivery. So don't even think about asking me to do do it. No one has ever said anything to me about it, just got a couple of "generated" qualcomm messages about a high idle percentage. OK, I won't make my "idle bonus", but the guy with the APU will make his? Hell, any goof could make an idle bonus with an APU. Get real; my truck ran for days during the summer. And when the first snowflakes were fallin' in Northern Pennsylvania or Wisconsin, I was warm and comfortable in my bunk with a single light blanket over me.
