Any inside info on who Knight is merging with?
Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors or facts on who this might be? It would be nice to know if your company was about to be ruined.

I am out of the loop, but you could narrow it down. Knight reported an option to buy a truckload carrier with annual revenue of about $450 million. P.A.M. and USA Truck may fit the criteria. Heartland may be too large.
A Transport Topics article by Rip Watson (4/12/10, page 5) points out that Knight's purchase option is part of a consulting agreement. Knight was paid $1.4 million to help the unidentified fleet reduce its costs. Knight is an expert at reducing costs and has the lowest operating ratio of any publicly traded trucking company. They have made consulting arrangements for many years but have never made a major acquisition. Analyst John Larkin states in the above named article that he believes it is unlikely that Knight will complete a deal because of concern a purchase will be too risky.

On one of the trucking shows they are saying TMC out of Des Moines, IA. Just a rumor though. I was just curious if anyone really knew.

Every time I went to that Hutchins terminal for a tire repair or something those mechanics would be standing outside talking and smoking cigarettes. Nevermind I have customers to take care of. I mean seriously were they trying to pick a fight or what ? Never came to that but I sure did feel like getting pissy with them every time I went to that worthless shop. They'd always bad mouth the Katy shop and believe me the guys in Katy did more before 9am than those idiots did all day. Where do they find these morons they hire as DM's and mechanics. Is it a requirement for them to be idiots or does the pay and working environment Knight creates cause this behavior ? THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE was the day I quit that steaming bag of garbage aka the tragedy known as Knight.

Your kidding right? I was asked by three people while driving for Knight if I was Kabaar, Sad Panda, or myself. Now this wasn't in casual conversation I was invited into a private office for these discussions. I'm just a working joe who calls a BS mega junk carrier what it is, that would be a terrible horrible dismal pathetic life. The work is great but the hoops you have to jump through to make a measly 40K in a year is not quite worth it.
And once again Blueboy, just like so many I was able to quit Knight and focus on the important things, delivering freight and getting home and with all that comes a 10k annual raise. Blueboy quit trying to get others to do your dirty work. Ya dopey rat.
Sorry Knighton it's just not worth it as we all know how unstable and unpredictable Knight can be. I prefer to remain unknown.

western express is the company they've purchased 49% of. go to the phoenix or fontana yards enough times and you'll see western express trailers dropped with the knight trailers. they aren't dropped in the designated areas for outside carriers. a month ago, i saw a western express freightliner being gutted at the phoenix yard. the batteries were the first things they yanked.
as for a merger....i haven't seen or heard anything about it. it could make sense, though, because ALL of the upper management has dumped their company stocks. something is definitely up. don't try getting info out of the dispatchers. they're very seldom told anything. the ones who are in the know probably won't divulge any information unless you're apart of their cult religion that is the LDS.
