Congrats on your escape! Wish me luck on my escape! Any tips or good leads you can offer me? I live near Akron, Ohio.

How much do they pay for stops? What about Layover? Dock detention really works? They said you have "non forced" dispatch, is that true?

$15 if you have more than 1 p/u or 1 delivery. IMO, it's not enough.
Detention? $10/hr after 2 hrs providing you arrived on time. But good luck getting it! I have about a 50% success rate in getting paid what I am owed.
Non-forced dispatch? yup, they dont force you to take any load, but... There will be consequences for turning anything down. "Sorry, it's the only load we have. Call me tommorrow ." and if you think the 1st load you turned down was bad, the next one they "offer" you (after you sit for 24+ hrs) probably will be worse!

DNA Mach. I tried to reply to your PM but I don't have enough posts to allow me to do so. If there is a way to get with you and I go to Knight I will use you as a reference but need to start deciding soon on who to go with.

Knight's Las Vegas Terminal

I am considering going through CDL training at my local community college, going through Knight's Squire training, then driving for Knight.

I am particularly interested in Knight's seven days on, seven days off program, as I am 56 years of age, semi-retired, and I want to stay that way.

I live near Las Vegas. On other, older threads here, I have read some pretty negative comments about the Las Vegas terminal.

I will appreciate any insight and advice about working the 7/7 out of the Las Vegas terminal that anyone posts here.

If, instead, I were to decide to be a regular full-time driver out of the Las Vegas terminal, how good are they about home time? If I could be home for two days every week, I think I could be OK with full-time driving.

Thanks.

i'm now on the 7 days on/7 days off thing. it's not entirely 1 week on. sometimes you'll be out for 2 or three weeks at a time. you WILL also be slip-seating. do yourself a favor by packing lightly. sometimes you'll get a truck that does 66mph. other times you'll get a slow truck that does 61.5mph or 62. it depends on what's available by the time you're coming back on.

tru dat, yo! the second load i was sent, i could actually do after getting in my 10hr break. it picked up near the slc yard. the routing had my butt going through wyoming. such a *fun* drive that was earlier today- NOT! oh yeah, the load was also a super heavy weight of 500lbs. it made for an awesome time on the icy spots with some crosswinds to deal with.
