I got 13000 miles in May (home now), 2700 in the last week. (edit) (Last 4 days) True, there have been months when I got much less than that, but that is trucking.

Would you like some cheese with that wine?

What terminal do you run out of? MOST drivers at "Red Swift" complain all the time to people who will not listen. Then they quit or Knight does not give them a load for 2 weeks.

Are you a "company man" who is too scared to say something or are you extremely lucky?

I don't get where you are coming from? I have had good miles this last month despite having the tractor in for service, almost 5 days of short runs in CA, and 4 days off.

Except for the time in CA, it is true that all my runs have been 600+, with a number of them over 1000. So I guess luck does play a part. Still, I can't remember the last time I flat refused to do a load, and if you don't think that makes for better relations with dispatch, you live in a fantasy world.

It's true that Knight has a lot of company policies and such, but within that framework, you are working with people. Make them look good, they will make you look good. Hell, that's true with any job, not just trucking.

The last time I sat for any length of time, though, was back around the first of the year, and everybody, not just Knight, was sitting back then.

And SP, I run a legal logbook. What, exactly, is your definition of a "hot book"?

They do, you have to print it out from the website and if you do not have a computer your dm can print it out at your local term.

You don't think they could stay debt free if they had to spend money on paper and stamps to send out thousands of payroll stubs each week.

Like most large companies, one drivers feast is another driver famine. But they have from what I have heard cut down on deadhead miles by choosing to sit drivers rather then mty move them to freight.

I also can not see how you will not have layovers and delays when most of the terminals don't have more then one shift worth of dispatchers and shop personal. A friend of mine had to wait 2 days to get into the shop for a air leak because the shop in Portland has cut staff and is closed all but 50hours a week.

If you are going to run trucks 24/7 you should be able to fix them and dispatch them more the 10 hours a day during the week and 4 hours on the weekends.

She also says that she can only get preplned on loads when she is coming from time off or in the influence of her home terminal. If she goes say to California then she gets the leftovers that drivers from that area did not want. She does get her miles but most of the freight is heavy like water out of corazon or kitty litter out of maricopa or salt out of newark.

And now that Tulare and Phoenix drivers don't have to worry about snow they are willing to drive the loads farther instead of dumping them in the yards like they do between Sept and April.

If you don't mind running the N.E. and the north central then you will get descent miles and home time. I say descent as opposed to good because you just can't run as many miles up there in 11 hrs as out west.

There a pretty good company to work for. BUT they do have a problem with getting you home on-time. They will put there load ahead of you getting home on-time.

Ok I have to give credit where credit is due. i was looking at leaving KR. I run for Idaho Falls but live in Al. They where having a real problem getting me home. The Term mng from IdF called me today and said that he thinks I should move to the Memphis term. That they would be better able to get me home on-time and that I would be happier there. I was suprised that a mng at Knight not only thought about what was best for the company but what was best for me. nice to know that there are some good people out there.
