Pay Stubs

As far as I know, Knight has not had actual pay stubs for several years. They are too cheap to even send monthly statements.

Knight is more concerned with doing anything possible to maintain their worthless reputation as a Fortune 200 company. They will cut income from everyone else as long as management gets their pay check!

Florida Loads

Knight does have some Florida freight. However, it is cheap freight and you must sit for days (without idling to stay cool) to get it. I know this because I used to work for Knight and I live in Florida.

5 of their customers are very close to where I live here in the western Panhandle. I went to these customers to get a load home and sometimes a load out.

What Knight does it abuse the drivers who live in areas with little freight. OTR drivers are used like part-time shuttle drivers. They will not pay your layovers even though they lie to you and say they will.

Seawind you are so full of it. Knight is like any other company. You get out of it what you put in it.

I get good freight out of FL. Just took a 1100 miles run up to NJ. I did have to wait a day to get it. But these days you can do that anywhere with any company.

As for the mileage pay look at it this way. .47x no miles is nothing. .31x 200 = $620 Now which is better. best at the end of your 1st year with them you will be at .35

I don't know who is sillier, but Kabar, you don't drive for KNIGHT TRANS do you? Your truck ain't red, so you can go transflow your yellow tripsheets and stuff like that!

Sure you get good freight outta FL, if I pull OJ outta that state with my trailer in this weather, it will taste pretty bad by the time I get it to my next stop!

First of all, you are either an ### kisser or a dispatcher! Do you actually believe the #### flowing from your fingers?

Next, .31 x 200 miles is $62!!! NOT $620!!! WOW!!! You will eat for 2 days and pay no bills!!! If you have a company paying you that well for doing nothing, stay there!!!

If YOU are getting freight from Florida when others are not, you are somebody's errand boy. Do you actually work for "Red Swift" or do you just login to screw with people?

One more thing, do you realize that most drivers who login to this site actually understand what they read and are NOT fooled by your pro-Knight BS?

A short rebuttal here.

First of all I am amazed at what I read in these forums not just about Knight but all companies. Yes there a re companies that need to be flogged and hung out to dry, but the bottom line is you have a choice. If you read my other posts I have been waiting to join Squire, the training division of Knight. I arrived at orientation this last Monday the 15th. I will say I found that I was very pleased at how I was treated and the information that I was given. That is all I will say here about that on this particular post. You can read my full experience on my other thread.

Anyways....I see all the complaints about Knight as well as other companies and the bottom line here is you are WORKING for a trucking company. They are not in business to make the driver rich, the company must make money first and foremost to pay the drivers, dispatchers, managers ect...You are the tool that provides the means to ensure you will have a paycheck. As everybody knows the economy isn't all rainbows and roses right now so companies must compensate. Will the driver make less money sometimes? Sure..but is there still good money to be made as a driver as an average...you bet. The pay miles may not be what you want but miles are miles. I have seen with my own two eyes what not just Knight drivers are are averaging but new " Squire Drivers " that are into their 3rd or 4th week of soloing. The newbies that are driving for Squire are averaging 2300 to 3200 miles per week at an average of .29pm to .35 depending on the length of the route. Yes there are a few with lower miles but its not because they don't have the freight but the new quire drivers are getting comfortable behind the wheel and are moving at their own pace. So the miles are there.

After what I have witnessed first hand this last week, I truly believe as of this moment now, (and yes this could change ) that Knight is one of the companies that realizes that without their drivers they wouldn't have a thriving business. That being said, they also understand that treating their good drivers as a human being that they will continue to be a "Fortune" company. As with any business, you keep the good ones and find ways to eliminate the dead weight that is not being profitable.

As for dispatching. You are assigned to your dispatcher in your area and are with them no matter where your route takes you. I personally find this a good point for the simple reason they know who you are and what you can and will do. I would,t care to be handed off to another person across the country and have to be at there mercy and get crappy loads because they prefer to "take take of their own first"....Thats just my opinion however.

The bottom line here is you are working for the COMPANY and it is their equipment. They have the rules set in place to protect their investment as well as their business. You may agree with them or you don't. You will follow them or you will choose not to. It is what it is and everyone has a choice. I however would like to be earning a paycheck with the best of my ability with a descent company than to be fighting with the State to get a pathetic weekly unemployment check.

I have read this over and over on these forums. Trucking is what you make of it. Until you have the means to purchase your own equipment, the only choice is working for a company, it is what is is..no more no less.

I KNEW IT ! That's why we loyal multi year Knight drivers are barely getting by. I knew from the moment I saw that article in KNIGHTLINE about Squire that the end was near. For a long time it was great working here but there just aren't any miles. Now I know why. Time to move on and besides it's getting old looking for the blood stains in the ever increasing totaled trucks at the Knight yards while waiting for a load. Thanks Kevin, you really are all about that bottom of the barrel dollar.

Enjoy it while you can Flash. I worked my way up and came to Knight back when they were a great company and increased my income. Sadly for you though that just isn't a plan anymore. This industry is ruined and climbing up just isn't an available option anymore.
