Oh forgot to go over day 2 of Orientation. Arrived again at 6:30 am and at 7 headed right over for the physicals and work step test. Was not bad at all I was a bit stressed about the step test but it was pretty easy. The doc approved me for 1 year due to my medical history. Not a big deal I get it. We had subs for lunch they had EVERYTHING on them so I did not eat as I cannot stand mayo I had a few bags of chips and a banana. Oh yesterdays lunch was Papa Johns Pizza. After lunch we had trip sheets and payroll info and then the service/maintenance manager came in. We got out at 4:30 today. I have decided after talking to my tax person comparing the pro and cons of per diem we decided runs and time away from home are so short I decided no on per diem just would not make sense. Tomorrow is driving the van for the Smith system, going over benefits and permits.

typical routine oreintation at Knight. I gather you are not getting paid for this correct? Also, good call on the big NO on per diem. I never liked the way they explained it me. I am suprised that they are making this more than a two day ordeal. Most new drivers that came through the Katy yard were doing a one day orientation on a computer at the terminal. Basically they don't learn anything because they just hit next and don't ask questions until after they are out trying to do the job. I really don't like that they started doing this. Orientation for Wal~mart was two weeks long only because their is so much information that has to be given to us. All in all, sounds like it is going good for you cage. I wish you the best!

I'm starting with Knight too. Seems like a good company so far. My recruiter has a bad habit of not answering questions though. I'm not sure what to do about it at this point other then wait.

We are getting paid for training. After speaking to my tax person per diem did not make sense because I am sleeping in the truck and will have less personal expenses being gone only a night at a time. As for 4 days not sure why it was so long.

TODAY we got in the port guys went out for Smith System driving and testing while others did classwork with safety learning e-logs and qualcomm. We came in for lunch and swapped then they went out for Smith and we learned our logs and qualcomm along with more port info. OH and the port guys got our official your hired info. Tomorrow we go over benefits pictures and other needed paperwork and get our trucks. Friday we head out for the run.

Well I am done got my truck it is a 2011 Volvo that has the Volvo motor, it is in decent shape has 321K on it. Runs well, it is close to its next service so I gave it to the shop late this afternoon to do the service and repair a few minor issues with the truck. I have sleep apnea and the company does not have APU's and will not allow you to hard wire an inverter so I purchased an inverter that should be here tomorrow. Shop said my truck should be ready around 11. I spoke with my DM I will not run without the inverter. I hope to be able do some local stuff in a day cab for tomorrow and start my run Monday morning. The only issue I have with my truck is I wish it had been cleaned and check out better minor issue so nothing major but I was REALLU looking forward to starting my port running tomorrow. Having to do a but more gave me something to do today between pictures and finishing up minor paperwork. I am pretty impressed with these guys and look forward to running soon.

I don't want to say what terminal I'm at yet till I'm out of there :)

Don't want anyone recognizing me from the forum :p

What type and size of inverter did you buy?
