I was not trying to mislead anyone , I said I would discuss it with my DM . I did & was explained how much the per diem was . So , you are correct & I am sorry if it did mislead anyone ! The pay all figured out , they did not show as actual pay , but did list it on pay statement !

My journey - Knight Transportation - part 2

From where I left off - the 1st International broke down , they put me into another one drove it for a week & it broke down . They keep breaking down because of a "Flow valve" or "Regen system" problems . So , again I had to switch trucks , another International ( needed the International for its bigger bunk , as my wife & dog would , I thought, be joining me) anyway 5 weeks later and 5 trucks driven , I went east to deliver a load & was then told my return load cancelled . Waited awhile & was then sent to mid-state New York for a load of wine , half way back the "Regen Burn" light came on , so I stopped & did the "Parked Regen Burn" . Started back driving & the same light came on again , I again parked & did a burn , as per conversation with "week-end shop" this was on a Saturday morning . That did not work , so I dollied down the trailer & waited for another truck to pick-up the load I was under . Then I bobtailed to Carlisle , Pa. yard , Sat there Saturday evening & all of Sunday . Come Monday morning , I was up early to get into the shop for repairs @ this point I was told I had to hook an empty trailer & go thru the inspection bay ( new idea of theirs ) . After inspection was over , I was told to drop the trailer & park by the shop , they would be out to get me when a bay opened up . Sat there all of Monday & Monday night , woke up early on Tuesday morning hoping I would get in for repairs , finally around 10:00am they took the truck in ! Tuesday night it was not finished yet , so off to a motel . Went back Wednesday & spent the entire day in drivers room , not bad , around 5pm they called me saying truck was done . Went to shop & they told me what they did to the truck , more than I thought , but said truck HAD to go to Indy to dealer to finish Regen work . Carlisle shop done an awesome job fixing everything they found wrong with the truck , including a service & Federal Inspection ,I was impressed . Called DM , he got me a load to Indy , load cancelled , off to Rockford ,Illinois , then to Hodgkins , Illinois to load back to Tobyhanna , Pa. After fighting the winter storm into central Pa. I decided to park , roads were just to nasty . Got started early Saturday morning & delivered load , my DM was on his day off , Load back to Indy again cancelled . Talked to week-end DM & was told eastern shore of New Jersey then back to Indy , I say NO , you are suppose to have right of refusal , said I HAD to do that load , again I said NO ! Went to fuel stop which was back west of where I was & in route to load , fueled & bob tailed home . Cleaned out their truck & called them Monday morning , told them what happened & why I did what I did . Told them afterwards I would return truck on Wednesday morning or how ever they wished to work it out , they picked the truck up Monday night , I had it cleaned inside ,all their stuff was there , took many photo's of it & then warmed up the truck for recovery driver . My journey was over , be careful if going there , deception is the only word I choose to describe them . So far I have received all my payroll without any unusual deductions . Good luck to all.

They were more than happy to come get it, and pay you everything you had owed to you to that point.....because now they are going to bang your DAC with an "abandonment"---and rightfully so.
Don't care how many pictures you took, or how spotless the truck was....they can legally charge your DAC with abandonment, because they had to recover the truck.
30 years in the industry, and you didn't know this?

O/P, where do you live and what was your home terminal? Yes, you can refuse loads at Knight. It sounds like they didn't fire you but that you chose to go home and quit, correct? I had a new Volvo when I was there and had no problems with it. The International Prostar with the Maxxforce engine is a problem for all companies that buy them. Not a Knight specific problem there. I'm in one of these 2014 lemons now over here at Crete.

I knew exactly what they would do to my DAC ! Did not matter at this point , sometimes one has to follow his gut feeling & do what he has to do . I have talked to 4 companies since I have been home & all of them said the same thing , they read the DAC & then hear the drivers side before making a decision ! I knew what I did was wrong & that I should have done it different . After what I went thru there , enough was enough , I did NOT mention that from truck #4 to the last one the garage cleaned out my truck , while I went to get the other one at the dealer , put all my stuff (everything) on the garage floor . I was VERY P_S_ED , went to the terminal managers office & all he said was "He would talk to him"
"White Dog" - The almighty "DAC" is not always what counts , I have had worse jobs & liked them way more ! I do NOT live by the "DAC" & "CSA2012" alone , if a company will not hear my version (side) of what happened , then I wouldn't want to work for them anyway !!
