My husband is heading over to knight trans in lake land FL. He is nervous as any new trucker would be. Mostly due to a failed attempt as CRST, he hit the curb, and well that is all. lol. He has been "pre-approved" and we all know thats just fancy talk. He has sent in all his information, dmv report, back ground, dot long form, yadda yadda ya. He is just trying to figure out the completion rate of orientation and what there training is really like. He is not willing to fail, and living here in south FL, we do not have many options as far as OTR companies that will take an inexperienced driver. Thanks for the advice, words of wisdom, and what ever else you toss this way!!
Any advice for Knight out of lakeland

Any type of information the good thhe bad and the ugly... It will all be helpful. Current, past, and even drivers in the same boat will help.

Does your husband have any endorsements? True, living in South Florida restricts choices, but there are a few good companies that hire new CDL drivers. Hope everything works out with Knight. If not, here's some more to look at.
CTL Transportation
Midwest-Coast Transport
Melton Truck Lines
Heyl Truck Lines (need 6 mos. experience)
United Van Lines
Lessors Inc.
Do some research and keep a list as a backup plan.Kwaller Thanks this. -
He has his standard endorsements needed fir his class A
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Have heard some good things about H.O. Wolding.
If they hire in your area, put them on your list.
Pretty decent website.Kwaller Thanks this. -
Lakeland is a nice new modern facility about a year old. Pretty good people at that terminal. With a good attitude he will do just fine.

Thank you! It means alot right now.

Knight should work out fine, especially if he's assigned to the Lakeland terminal. Lakeland is an excellent location for refrigerated freight outbound and easy to get freight back into Florida.
I always recommend a backup plan though, especially for a married driver with a family. -
A good attitude at Knight basically means getting rolled and chocking it up to "paying your dues" Some people dislike dishonest employers and let it be known. These people have no future at Knight and quit while accepting even lower wages at the next company, so long as the company is honest. Best of luck though, you'll do fine.

Did you go to work with Knight and how is it going?
