    Yeah...that's what I thought. They're trying to plant seeds with new drivers as to how best to save some money so those new drivers don't get disillusioned when they spend $200 a week on food at truck stops. They'd be better off giving them all a 12v slow cooker, a cookbook and a $50 gift certificate to Wal-Mart to get them started.

    Agreed...budgeting $200 a week is just about the average from what I can tell, on those that eat at truck stops so, good call!

    No APUs is my only negative so far about them. After a few months there I plan on buying a small generator and a portable AC to stay cool in the summer and not idle the truck all the time. I have one of those Road Pro ovens right now. I saw a guy's videos on YouTube and he makes all kinds of stuff in that thing and it's easy clean up.

    Gas Generators run at a much higher rpm than your diesel engine, Reefer, and apu. You and no one near you will sleep.

    The one I am looking at is a 2000W model and is rated at 58db or about as loud as a vacuum cleaner.

    No they showed them the plug in coleman, lunch box oven and a small grille. Then we all went in on some chicken from walmart and let me tell you. That little grille did the job.

    You ever try to sleep next to a vacuum cleaner? I know a guy that tried to use a gas generator, it was loud and it had a gas tank on it that held less than a quart of fuel. It ran for 120 minutes before it went dry. He was in and out of his truck four times a night trying to use that thing.

    I am wanting the 2000W so I can run it at half load powering just my AC. At half load it will run 9.5 hours on a little over 2 gallons of gas; it has a tank that holds just over 2 gallons. The noise level won't be too bad. It will be as if you are vacuuming in one room of your house and you shut the door. There will be several feet between me and the next guy so it isn't like it will be right next to his head. If companies to provide the means to keep cool you got to do what you got to do to stay comfortable. I refuse to idle a truck for my entire break. I will do anything I can to get around that.

    I wouldn't pay nearly $200 per month during the summer months to save Knight or any company a buck. After using an APU for the last two years I can honestly say I would never work for a company that didn't use them. 					I am not in a position to sign on with a company that has APUs and meets my other needs. It will be worth it. AC is not something I will use year round and will be probably be used about 5 months out of the year. Knight has a .02 CPM bonus for fuel/idle time. The money I would make in bonus would pay for the gas I use and beyond. Not too mention less engine hours generally equates to less maintenance and breakdowns. My opinion may change once I am out there but right now it seems like it will pay off. And, if I go somewhere else, I can take it all with me if the next place doesn't have APUs.
