Looking into starting with Knight

I'm just starting out and looking at going with Knight, I have heard mostly good things about them, I had looked into a few companies and have decided to stay away from SWIFT, PAM. I have read on the forum that Knight has an anti idle policy. Does that mean you cant run A/C at night while your sleeping in the truck or hit a rest area for a quick power nap? Can someone who knows about this policy comment?

 

Do their trucks not have APUs?

 

Knight called me and said that I was accepted and all good to go. I was making plans to get ready to goto their training school. The recruiter called me back a few days later, said that because my Permit is out of Va, they cant afford to send a truck and driver to Va take the driving part of the exam. They said that it just cost to much. she ended with if you do get your cdl give us a call and we will put you in a truck. Well as former active duty Marine, I roll big on integrity and standing by people who have my back. If Knight cant have my back to get my CDL during training then how could I trust them to have my back when I would be on the road for them. Contacted Milllis and they said hey Va CDL is no problem we take care of the vets that have come to us. So I am set up with .36 cpm right out of school with 3000 ~ 3500 miles weekly. sorry knight you had your chance.

 

I already have my cdl permit, and I have taken and passed all the exams for the endorsements ( haz, tank, doub, trip ). The problem is Just after I finish the 3 week driver training at Knight or Millis, I need a truck with a trailer to take the driving part of the Va CDL exam. Knight told me they can not afford to dispatch a truck with a trainer/driver to my home state to do the driving exam, even though they said that it would be no problem earlier when they first called me. on the other hand Millis said it is not a problem and taking you in a truck to do the driving exam is a standard part of their training school package.
