I talked to a recruiter today at the Kansas City Terminal. I have been thinking about driving for Knight (Dry Van). I asked if Knight has Pre-Pass and EZ-Pass, and he said he didn't know if they did or not. He asked me what that was, and I explained it was for paying tolls, and by passing the scales. He said he never heard of that before. I also asked about idling the truck. I asked if the truck shuts off after 5 minutes, wondering about running the A/C to keep cool, and he said "I assure you the truck wont shut off. Well Im finding this hard to believe. He said he was a recruiter in training, so I can understand not knowing very much, but I need to know the facts from Knight Drivers about these 2 questions I have, or any other points that could be important. Now I know Knight probably isn't the best company to work for, but any info you current or previous Knight drivers can give me would be appreciated.

10 years experience and you're considering Knight? Over qualified by 9 years and 11 months and 3 weeks. They can't BS you, you've heard it all and been around the block. They prefer the newer drivers "paying their dues." This keeps them debt free.

They required two years experience as recently as 2008. Now they're a trucking school. Companies like Knight insure wages stay in the toilet industry wide.

I have been invited to orientation by Knight, but I put them off for another week, because I have a better offer from a different company, so Im going to take the better offer and once hired I will let Knight know.

    I drive for Knight.

They do have the prepass and EZ Pass.

And yes, the truck will absolutely shut down you. If it's 70 or under I believe during the summer. Not sure about winter... Almost every night the truck has shut down on me. It sucks because while it's not necessarily HOT, I still wake up hot and when you're in a humid area and everything feels moist and disgusting, it calls for a night of very little sleep.
