Greeting & Salutations!
Looks like I'm due for orientation with Knight Transportation on Monday. I'm still a bit indifferent since I couldn't really find too much info on the I-5 corridor runs which I'm signing on for, wouldn't be the first time I've gone into something blind. Either way I'm not really going into this to get rich, I just want the experience and see what things are like on the freight side of trucking. I'll try to keep a log of my experiences, rather they be positive and/or negative, that way other potential drivers can make a better informed decision.
BTW if anyone has some helpful tips and advice for running I-5 or any info about various accounts, please do tell! Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

I figure it'll be slow-going, being the I-5 and all. All I've ever done when it comes to driving is intrastate in California, so I hope the trainer I go out with will give me some tips and pointers about what to expect from the other two states I'll see.

I currently drive for Knight, out of Denver. I can say from experience, there is alot of loads off the I-5. Which terminal are you going to be out of? The Fontana yard sucks!!! There is alot of IKEA out of Lebec. Knight dose alot off the I-5, 2 months ago I drove 9800 miles, about 6500 of that was just in California. The home time is great!!! In Denver I can do what I want, as far as home time, you only have to run 1 load a month to stay employed. You won't make much money doing that, but its nice to have that freedom to be at home for long periods.
X-Country Thanks this. -

re: one load a month
I would imagine that means a different truck every time you go out? -
Yes, it's a slip seat position. Each Knight terminal is like a franchise. Each one has different rules.

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. Not that I would make it a habit, but that would be sweet to be able to take a week off once in a while to recoup.

It's nice if you can fill in for local during the rush/fill in for someone sick to make extra coin.
