Fajo, thanks for the encouragement. I don't get out to Olive Branch in the hotel until this Saturday. I start my orientation on Monday. I guess that is the class that is ahead of us. I really like hearing the good and bad on the forums because it makes it more realistic rather than a "mirage" that is nowhere near perfect. Puts things in to perspective on what to expect. Don't have to worry, the horror stories just make me want to get in there and prove people wrong, lol. I like to have a challenge and strive to overcome BS (as how I climbed the ranks in the Army!) and plan on doing that here.
Thanks for the service recognition, and OverDrive, I too want to thank you for your service. You guys paved the road for us snotty nosed youngin's, both here in life and in the Army! -
Treat your training as just 'boot camp' being at the bottom of the food chain (humbling yourself from your previous higher rank) and try to get a 'seasoned' trainer---I bailed on my 1st 'young kid' trainer (while team driving) after one week but succeeded with an older 62 yo/35 yr experienced driver who I learned the most from by 'watching him and picking his brain.'
You'll also find & be drawn to other vets while hanging around truck stop lounges who are used to meeting new ppl and therefore more open & talkative, a natural comradery rare in civilian life.
Good luck. OD
And, the saying that I grew up with being around the military was : "The troops arent happy unless they're complaining."lcfd15 Thanks this. -
Well things are looking like they are all in order. I have my bus confirmation, clothes are washing, paper work all together and I am ready to rock. Just have to wait for Saturday to get here and I will be on my way to a start in my new career. Thanks for all the tips, trick and support to all those truckers out there that actually give advice, both here and on YouTube!

Only 1 more day till departure to Memphis. Can't wait to get this ball on the way since the last time I was about to leave for training I had to be rushed into surgery.. Sure hope training flies by and that we don't spend to much time waiting on trainers to be available.
