Starting the Squire Program 10/10/14

Will be spending tonight (and every night) at home in my own bed eating home-cooked meals while ACTUALLY being 'my own boss'..what will you be doing 'Leased To?' Sucking up to a DM for a load?!

And my Thanks extends to you also, I don't care what disagreements I have with someone. You still served, You still Protected us. And I'm thankful for that. Nam vets did not get the welcome home they should of, they had alot of crap happen to them over there and we turned our back on them. Here is hoping we learn from our mistakes. Again, Thanks for making sure My Family and my self have a safe place to call our own.

Thks, and you'll do fine in the transportation industry as they value vets who are easier to manage and more reliable, as well as have a rare thing like 'common sense' which cant be taught but must be learned thru experience and modeling by others. Besides my 4 yrs reg service I had a 'lifer' Dad who worked his way up thru the ranks also from enlisted Army Air Corp to CWO4 and raised me as 'one of the troops.'

Treat your training as just 'boot camp' being at the bottom of the food chain (humbling yourself from your previous higher rank) and try to get a 'seasoned' trainer---I bailed on my 1st 'young kid' trainer (while team driving) after one week but succeeded with an older 62 yo/35 yr experienced driver who I learned the most from by 'watching him and picking his brain.'

You'll also find & be drawn to other vets while hanging around truck stop lounges who are used to meeting new ppl and therefore more open & talkative, a natural comradery rare in civilian life.

Aye, GL to you. I'm finishing up a reset here in the Olive Branch yard then off to Delhi, LA. To pick up a load going to Taber, AB (Canada) Good 2200 mile trip with plenty of time left in the week for another one. You be safe, And remember it is what you make of it. =D

 

Only 1 more day till departure to Memphis. Can't wait to get this ball on the way since the last time I was about to leave for training I had to be rushed into surgery.. Sure hope training flies by and that we don't spend to much time waiting on trainers to be available.
