Come to think of it, was more like 25K miles---if 7500 miles, then 1/2 of all Knight trucks would be in the shop at one time!
Speaking of BS that most experienced drivers wont put up with 'if called on violating' is if being hit while parked in a 'legal parking area,' is Knight's version of the "No Sitting Duck policy"

The concept of not being a sitting duck was so as not to be hit while parked was designed to keep drivers from unnecessarily parking off of major roadways with high traffic flow.
But ALL truckers will at some time have to park in the street---waiting to unload at some customers or waiting for a PP after unloading and the customer has kicked them out of their yard to allow other trucks in for loading/unloading.
If you could improve 1 thing at Knight, what would that be?

Well I had a trl in the Katy yard hat had a break chamber blow out and therefore couldnt release brakes and breakdown tell me to drag it 8mi west to brookshire to boss shop...I tell them trk won't move and I'm informed that knight will no longer allow them to call road Service to any yard...after telling them the load will sit till morning and I'm going back home...they called road service after all....I asked them wouldn't it be cheaper to have their own tech called from home to come fix it?...they complain about cost??..lol

In response to some of the earlier posts about the 7500 service schedule...
It pre-dates my time at Knight, but I understand from other drivers it started about 2 years ago. It's the same for Volvos, Freightliners and Internationals. What is new is the no grace period. That just started a month or so ago. You used to get a window of up to 1,000 miles over, now you can't be over by even 1.
7,500 miles is about 2.5 weeks of driving give or take a few days. So after about 10 days out you have to start nagging your DM about getting back to the terminal on time and asking yourself if you take the next load will you have enough miles left to get back to the terminal on time. By the time you get through the inspection lane, get the truck into service and then wait for them to finish you'll lose the better part of a day. And the MT you just had to drop to go in for service.
In my opinion the whole policy is just poorly thought out and frustrating. It's costing me bonus $ if I go over or time and loads if I try to follow it. -

So with the 7,500 rule are you allowed to come in early? You guys said that you have to do this at your home terminal only right? Is this because your home terminal is the only one that keeps records of that specific truck?
Just does not make sense why they would restrict you to only your home terminal. -
