New replacement for Q com, I guess. Or maybe just an experiment, don't know, but it is DEFINITELY NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME.

If it worked, it looks really good, but it has so many bugs that it is just about USELESS! The system acts like someone trying to run modern software on an ancient 2086 computer, constant hangups and crashes. Takes 2 to 3, or more, time to enter and send arrival, loaded, etc., messages. Navigation software continually crashes.

Waiting for tomorrow, Monday, to see where I can leave comments, because it seems Knight has bought a pig in a poke (whatever that means).

I am sure Knight will either get it fixed, or trash it, but for right now, it is just ridiculous.

Anyone else dealing with this monstrosity?

There's a You Tube video of this thing. I like the fact they use the thing to scan pretrip points on a perfectly clean/new truck. I like the fact the driver wears no gloves while checking everything letting him touch, type and send, in a very nice grease and dirt free environment. Hopefully this thing has a place to hold my flashlight for me. I was going to head off to Kinght later this month for orientation and then head out 11 western. Watch the video. I don't mind elogs at all but this thing , in more ways than seven, doesn't sit well with me. Might very well be a deal breaker walking into this thing...even if it functioned flawlessly. Just my opinion from watching Zonar's promotional video.

Yes Knight is going to this system because they are not renewing their Qcomm contract as of January 2015. They are doing a full fleet transfer and some terminals have completely switched over yet. If you ask me they have done it prematurely without training all of their installation staff and maintenance staff with how to problem shoot it first, which is crazy! I have done homework on it and like it myself. I agree with you Buckboard, but to an extent. Yes doing a pre trip is a dirty job and we all know it, BUT all you have to do is the same thing that you could do with the old qcomm 1) go through your entire pre trip, than take 5 minutes to run through the tags, scan them and check it all off or 2) go through it section by section scan tag, glove up and check, than glove off and finish that area.

Either way the entire system is set up to get the driver OUT of the truck and do a thorough inspection therefor making it less imminent for a driver just to wake up with the qcomm and check it off and drive on. Now does it completely eliminate the fact that a driver may still just scan and go, no because there will be some that just do that, BUT it does make the driver get out and scan the areas making it more probably that they will at least look at more than some drivers do now! The biggest reason that I see is it makes a driver get out and interact with certain areas therefor making it more probable for them to catch something that they may not have with older systems.

Now the up side (when systems are working) is it is a full working tablet. Meaning that you can take it into a drivers lounge and use the WiFi to use the internet on the web browser, watch Netflix and stuff like that. Another good thing is instead of having to write everything down to go inside of a shipper, it saves you a minute or two because now you can detach it and take it in with you (sort of FedEx or UPS style... lol) so you will have all the info right at your finger tips.

So just like any other system it has its ups and downs. I really hope that Knight does get it together though with getting more and more tech's certified in fixing, setting up, and training drivers in these so we can get this system rocking and rolling.

Thanks for the input Icfd15...not a big deal. I'll be fine with it and they'll get the bumps smoothed out.

Slowly getting better at using this thing, biggest problem remaining is the crashes and hangups. Navigation app is the worst in that respect, VERY touchy.

That's what I told the shop to do with mine.. leave the tags inside the cab and ill put them all on a piece of card board. =p

Not even O/O's are protected from this PoS system.

    Edit.
There is one bright side to this new system, Its extremely easy for them to update the Operating software. So i'm guessing they will be pushing updates to these units quite often.. The one part I am looking forward to is just grabbing the tablet and walking into a cust with all the info I need already here.

    lcfd15 Thanks this.

Well got Bob 2.0 installed in my truck here a few days ago and had a minor hickup when it first started. Had to call Zonar and they wiped the tablet and reloaded it over the wifi. Been stable as a rock sense, no crashes or log outs. I love the instant logs no more waiting 10 min for the #### system to update.

    Buckboard and lcfd15 Thank this.

It was a bait-and-switch scheme in the late Middle Ages entailing the sale of a suckling pig in a 'poke,' which was just a bag. The bag would actually contain a cat or dog (substantially less valuable as a source of meat), which was sold to the victim in an unopened bag.

a lot of the guys are having issues once it is initially installed. After the system update and calling in to Zonar, they are getting these issues all worked out quickly.
