Dude all the termials are the same if not worse. Last night i was in hanjin for 3 hrs for a empty in load out. 3 hours at evergreen for empty in bobtail out and 2 hrs for a load out at hanjin. Idk what you're talking about but these guys just don't care. Its their rules in there. Ps apl has always been good. They just called me and they told me knight runs to fresno and stuff not interested.

Guess it depends on individual experience. APL during the "strike" was always a pain in the butt. Evergreen had me in and out in less than a half hour for a load in own chassis several times, and has let me sit for three or four hours other times. Yusen has been both lousy and awesome depending on the day and the time, same with Hanjin or Trapac, or ZIM. You never know, except when you know you hit the sweet spot where you're one of 5 trucks at the pedestal. That is a good run. When the line is over 50 trucks long just to get in the gate, you better get your reading materials out, think about making a sandwich. It's really different than OTR, but compared to doing dry van or refers? Any day, all day - I'd take the ports. And you're right the ILWU guys mostly don't care how long you sit. Drivers are nothing but truck trash in their minds, and in some cases, they're right. LOL

All I know is I'm making better than decent money so far and would make more if I liked my family less. I'd enjoy a break from the 10 all the time as far as Fresno is concerned. I almost know the ditches, washes, and arroyos across I10 Cali by name and in order. I'd rather not. lol

    Wanna know something funny.

Sometimes you can log into payroll and work for Kooltrans, Tricolor or KR.

Very true... its a gamble going to go in to any of them. You don't know how long you going to sit.

I used to do that run for swift. I know what you mean. You get to see the same drivers if their line haulers

What's the latest with the ports? Ran seven months out of L.A.-Long Beach during the mess (Oct 2014 to June 2015). It was my first time doing port work. Got paid a decent daily rate by my employer so I really didn't care about sitting so much. They had some sort of lucrative contract (all I know is it had to be fairly lucrative) with Walmart to do local runs.

I really liked the work despite all the hassles that were going on at the time. A few years ago I'd heard horror stories from a Knight recruiter about how you they treat you. While you do sometimes run into the occasional clerk or low-level pickup driver who's off their rocker, most everyone there seems to like their job. (They should, considering how much they get paid...) They treat you friendly if you treat them that way yourself.

When Walmart terminated the contract at the end of May, I resigned after working two years with this particular company. About to start looking again. Considering how much I enjoyed port work I'm thinking about looking specifically for that. In my 15+ years of OTR I've never been an O/O but I might consider getting my own equipment (both truck and slidable chassis) to do port work if it looked like I could make some money at it.

The ports are just a bit better but on random days they can be a nightmare. As long as you go with a company that pays you waiting time you'll do alright

Anyone currently on this account? I was thinking about it from Las Vegas. Thoughts?

    Thanks!
