I'Ve been lurking on the "knight Band of Brothers" Facebook page and notice a lot of complaints about inaccurate pay. Is this really a big problem with Knight?
It it either means they are shady or incompetent, and really makes me hesitant about choosing them for a starter. It's really unacceptable if true.
So, anyone around here have this experience?
thank you.

Hey Ira, welcome to the forum! And to trucking! I hesitate to talk about my experiences with Knight, because it is very old. I left them in 2004. However, I realize that you may have seen some of my posts, so I'll go ahead.
First off, let me say that I always got my money from Knight. But I was on the phone to payroll EVERY WEEK, or my wife was. Disorganized is much more descriptive, than dishonest. OTOH, I watched my settlements like a hawk. Always have, no matter where I worked. I did always wonder what happened with the drivers that just took there settlements as gospel, and never checked them. I'm just too anal to let that happen.
Never had any problems in getting my mileage pay. It was the extra stuff they say they pay you for, that was always late. They would "temporarily lose" paper work. I know they got it, because it was always in the same trip-Pak envelopes as my logs, bills and everything else.
If you do go to work for them, keep copies of EVERYTHING you send in. Make yourself a spread sheet and reconcile it every time you get paid. If you find discrepancies, and you will, get with their payroll. It will get old, but at least when I was there, they had decent and friendly folks working in payroll. They got so they knew both my name and my wife's name, very well.dog-c, mje, Irahays and 1 other person Thank this. -
It could very well be that the people currently working in the payroll department were not trained properly or they may need to be transferred to another area of the company.
An employee of any company should NOT have to be talking to payroll every week to get the correct amount of their paycheck. This issue alone can SERIOUSLY BUST THE MORALE of the employees working there, causing an ENORMOUS, BUT UNNECESSARY TURNOVER RATE, which can be extremely costly.UKJ, drvrtech77, dog-c and 2 others Thank this. -
I can say from experience that they screw payroll every week..even to the point that on the o/o side they would send Qualcomm msgs stating.."check your settlements to make sure you were paid for everything and weren't overcharged for fuel"...when a company consistently says that, there is a major problem and I dont think it's an accident...I'm inclined to believe that someone is stealing drivers pay and banking on very few catching it so they can pocket that money... bunch of thieves....
mje Thanks this. -
Wage theft is just as SERIOUS a crime as any other type of theft or embezzlement. The OTR drivers, like all other employees everywhere, deserve to receive ALL of their earned pay. They should NOT have to jump through hoops to get it.
The thieves, if that is the case, deserve to go to prison for a good stretch of time, fined heavily, and be made to pay back all of the money that was stolen.Last edited: Jan 16, 2015

lots of companies have this problem. I had this problem almost every single week with Werner. its as simple as people not paying attention to details and not doing their jobs like they should.
