Knight Chicago/Joliet Terminal

    Was wondering if anyone on here has any info or experience on running out of Chicago terminal. I've heard some terminals are better than others, and was just wondering about this one.

    Runaway from that trainwreck quickly. I grossed less than $7k in 3.5 months with Knight running out of Joliet. Serious issues there!

    I have had very good luck with running out of Joliet with Knight.

    It will all depend on you as a driver. What I mean by that is, if you put limits on where you will run, wanting to be home every weekend, only will drive certain times of the day and how much time you spend at the truck stops. That will limit your income.

    I have been with them 6 months and am very pleased. My DM Kim is the best. I sometimes have to take some crappy runs to get good runs. She always takes good care of me when I am out on the road. She keeps me moving and gets me home when I want or need to be.

    The other DM's are good also. If you work with them and make your times for pick up and delivery or have a good reason and let them know very early that you can't make a time they will all make you some money.

    Is Knight perfect? Heck no!!! But they seam to be a good fit for me at this time.

    No offense but I didn't put limits on anything. The only reason I would sit at a truckstop is because Knight made me sit there...waiting and waiting! I can run 4000 miles in a week legally no problem...been there and done it! I worked for a good company before so I know what one is...and it isn't these cheap freight megacarriers! They are penny-pinching idiots and they left me sitting repeatedly because they sell off good trailers and make you sit all weekend. Then, they tell you to deliver this load locally on Monday AM so you can have the empty! That sliding scale means sliding you the shaft on pay! They gave me a short, local tire load straight out of the house where I had to sit and wait for 5 hours for lumpers to unload. Then, they didn't have anything for me. They paid me a whopping $60 that day! They made me sit in Memphis three times in a row for the whole weekend because they don't have empties and/or loads. The one time, they preplanned a load out of Memphis to get me home (where I was heading with the previous load). I go to get it and one of the jerks at Memphis gives the load away to someone else (the next day, way after I already accepted the preplan)! I had to fight with them to fix things wrong with my truck. I froze the whole winter because the truck doesn't run above 32 and the bunk heater didn't work properly...and they kept saying check if there is a piece of paper blocking it. You told me that the last several times and THERE IS NO PAPER BLOCKING THE VENT! I wrote it up repeatedly. They refused to replace 4 bald drive tires on one axle while the other axle had new retreads. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a split differential! Every time I went to a customer with a gravel lot for a drop and hook, I would sit there spinning the tires for an hour trying to get the truck moving because they wouldn't replace the tires! I had to threaten to call the D.O.T. after writing it up repeatedly before they would replace them (then they did it really fast). Suave (the shop head) isn't even a Knight employee...he is through some hiring agency or something like that. Brian Lewis can't even walk outside to look at bald tires when my truck is right outside the door (after the shop repeatedly told me write it up next time)! He's too busy! They always gave me loads that were late already and you would sit there and not get any detention time (even though it wasn't your fault for being late)! I could go on and on but I'd advise you to look elsewhere. They just plain don't care and will cut corners and YOU, the driver, are the one that gets screwed. Knight and Western Express both sucked and I made very little money with either one. I averaged 2500 paid practical miles a week at the previous job I had (for 18 months) and was home and off every other weekend for 3+ days like clockwork. I got laid over one time in 18 months. But the load had a different schedule time and I delivered early. They paid a lot better than Knight or Western Express, too. Those two are chump megacarrier mill companies with a lot of drivers and you are dime a dozen as a driver.

    So did Knight lose the Macy's account out of Minook Il? It's all Keystone trailers in there now. Leave it to Knight to mess up and lose such a gravy account like that. Stupid Knight idiots.

    I remember that one guy that worked in that little tiny hut out in the parking lot, what a dchbag he was. Lieing cheating moron. I guess he found out the hard way what happens when you chew up and spit out the hired help.

    But on the plus side, look at all the trailers Knight can take out of service and sell.
