LSAgent Please answer these questions, I have looked high and low for these answers.. I can't find the answers anywhere.. Or PM me. Thanks. -
I guess I could ty to answer these.
1. Why would you try to lease on without a truck? I don't understand that question.
2. You can get all of your insurance through Landstar when you lease on. Since you will be leasing on, you will use their D.O.T. number.
3. It is pretty much a necessity to have a good computer and wireless internet card to get the best benefit from working with Landstar. I would also highly recommend a decent all in one printer and scanner for scanning your paperwork to corporate. It will save you time and money being able to scan your bills, etc., from your truck.
4. Landstar will coordinate with your leasing company to ensure that they get everything you need to them.
5. If you decide to have Landstar put the plate on your truck, they will have it to you before you leave orientation as well as all permits, etc.
6. You will need to have the tractor inspected by a Landstar approved shop at your expense before it will be leased on. In my case, I just went to the dealer, had them put a dealer plate on the truck, and took it to be inspected before orientation. They have shops all over the country, and they will let you know where the closest one is. In my case, the inspection shop was less than 20 miles from the dealer. Any dealer who has ever sold a tractor to a driver to be leased on with Landstar will know you have to do this, and they will work with you.
Answers 2,4,5 and 6 pretty much explain why I don't understand why you would try to lease on without a truck.
Also, if you wish to take your truck to orientation, and you wish for Landstar to put the plate on it, you will need to insure it to get it there and put a temp plate on it. As I said, you will get everything else while you are there.
I hope this helps answer your questions.Rollin_18 and herfinharry Thank this. -
Well I was told by a LS Qualifying Agent that there are BCO's who put drivers in their trucks, That is my reasons for that one. -

I was in the DALLAS terminal and since August 1, 2012 any new landstar leases must have a EOBR and an electronic engine. This does not apply to older BCO's on staff prior to 1 August 2012, but is an option for them.
russellkanning Thanks this.
