It would seem to me that the majority of Landstars O/O's are there because they are successful in this industry. One reason for that success is a positive history of compliance to all laws including HOS. I get some of the arguement against forced EOBR's but for a drivers like those at Landstar I would think it would be less of an issue.
These O/O's are going to run out of places to go because as much as I dislike the government intervention I believe EOBR equipment of some kind will be on all trucks in the future. My opinion is that if your an O/O the option to go with an EOBR should be by choice, sadly like many other things the government sees it the other way.herfinharry and russellkanning Thank this. -
so let's say I've had my CDL for a year bought a truck out right for a couple thousand and and passed safety inspection theoretically I could go to landstar that same day in sign up for orientation

So, would it be best to apply without a truck, and then get one after you have approval?
It makes them sound more credible knowing they don't lease trucks themselves. However I'm curious if they give any assistance in finding a good third party to lease from? -

If you ever make a dime, hire a CPA. Depreciate everything. Sell your truck after 5 years. Taxes, fuel and repairs will eat you alive, in this business. -
