I've seen a lot of people on here asking about leasing on with Landstar. I wanted to go ahead and post information for you to get started.

Here is the website for information and pre-quals: http://www.lease2landstar.com/

If you have any questions, there are a plethora of good guys here who can give you more information on the trucker side of things.

As an agent for Landstar I can tell you this. The network of resources available to us is endless. Landstar takes a chunk of what you make, but they provide a lot of options other carriers can't. I thoroughly enjoy working with most of our BCO's and am looking daily for guys interested in signing on with us to find them freight and get our freight moved at the same time. I'll be happy to help you however I can, whenever I can because being successful in this business is all about reputation and relationships.

Additionally, if anyone's interested in becoming a Landstar Agent, I'll be more than happy to answer any questions for you and you can know that I'll give you the most honest answer I can. If I don't know something, I'll contact my regional VP and obtain an answer for you.

Good Luck and Safe Travels! You guys keep our country moving and without you, people like myself, would be nothing. I look forward to developing good relationships with you all.

Notice: This is NOT a recruitment thread. I do not recruit for Landstar, nor wish to recruit you. This thread is intended merely to provide quick information for some of the most frequently asked questions.

What is a Business Capacity Owner (BCO)?

"Business Capacity Owner" or BCO better reflects the skill set of Landstar's independent owner/operators. Owner-operators have dispatchers. But BCOs are dispatchers. You select the freight. You set your schedule. You decide on home time.

    What is "percentage pay?"

At Landstar, owner/operators are compensated based on a fixed percentage of the revenue generated from the freight they haul. As rates increase, so does your compensation.

What kind of freight is available on the Landstar Load Board?

Take the Landstar Load Board challenge and see how the freight we have available compares to the freight you have access to now. A free demonstration is held every Friday via WebEx. See website for email address and phone number. Removed due to email address belonging to Landstar recruiter.

What kind of support does Landstar offer?

Solid, long-term relationships are the backbone of Landstar's success story. We'll provide you with the resources necessary to succeed, starting from your first day in orientation to the tools to plan ahead and book your next load to a complimentary ocean cruise as part of Landstar's extensive safety awards program.

    Why Landstar?

A large and diverse freight base, with access to freight heading in the right direction at the right price. Discounts on fuel, tires and equipment through the Landstar Contractors Advantage Purchasing Program (LCAPP) to help you reduce the cost of doing business. Help as close as a phone call away from more than 1,200 Landstar employees who are with you every mile of the journey. The freedom to make your own loading and route decisions, based on your personal needs, with no forced dispatch. And the solid financial and administrative backing of Landstar, one of the nation's leading transportation and logistics companies.

contact corporate and ask to speak to recruitment. They will get you setup with everything you need to know and answer the above questions. You DO NOT have to have your own DOT# to my knowledge.

Actually, a few things have changed since I sent you that. I am no longer power only. I now have 8 flats and 1 step. I'm in south florida and only interested in running open trailers.
