Hello everyone, we are thinking about leasing on with Landstar! We will start out running dry van until we learn the system. What can we expect running team out of Memphis, tn ? For example, freight volume, load weight, next day delivery, rate per mile? Help us out so we can make the right decision. Thanks a lot

There are alot of variables there. You might wanna look into joining Landstars A&E fleet since you are a team.

I'm sure being from Memphis you would be right in the middle of freight lanes.

Rates vary, there is some dedicated team runs from Chicago to Miami I hear...don't know what rates are on them though.

As long as you can get a DoD secret clearence and attend their training class I don't believe it would take more then a couple of months.

Six months to one year minimum unless you come in with clearance and previous experience. We have a Memphis office. The freight is there. We run dedicated freight out of Jackson to SC, AR, and IL and work our BCO's back on reloads. Not really team rates though on the dry van side. You just have to get in with the right people.

Thanks for the information. My brother/co-driver has a security clearance from being in the military. I don't have one but I have a great background so it shouldn't be hard to obtain one. Hopefully we can find a good agent so we can make some good money.

Sounds good. The freight gods (God himself) are shining on us in the van division lately and now I'm scrambling for vans where I'm normally scrambling for flatbeds. If it's not one, it's the other. I'm just happy to keep my 12 employees and myself employed.

We are looking for good freight rates and we run hard as long as the freight is there. Also, how heavy are the loads?

They are heavy. I don't post anything in public out of respect for TTR. Get your two posts and we can talk further in PM. You guys get a date for orientation yet?
