Another driver was asking me if I had looked into what Schneider had to offer O/O's. I never really considered any other companies besides Landstar because I really like the business model Landstar offers when it comes to thier BCO's.
I did learn from a quick check on Schneiders website that they have a program that is set up like Landstars that offers 65% LHR,100%FSC and a choose your own load option, but thats all I could find. Are there any of you that have dealt with Schneider or that might know how they compare to Landstar. I am all approved and ready for orientation with Landstar next week but its only right to investigate all the options.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Turns out Schneider does not offer the choose your own load revenue based progam on the west coast,at least not for all O/O's. They are working on it but have no set date, this is per the O/O recruiter. The only option is the mileage pay which makes me think my choice to go with Landstar is a good one. Thanks for your replies, everyone seems to be happy at Landstar,of course every company has its haters but at Landstar they seem to be few and far between.

They (Schneider)claim to have been working on this for years. Most of the guys who are happy with them, are the guys that never go home, or their truck is paid for or they live in a area where nobody wants to run like northern NJ.

Several people on here that have done both. Picking you own loads I would not consider the business model. These are similar features of two completely different business models. Rate to the truck is a challenge in both. While if I was making a choice I would go with LS hands down. But in terms of first years you can likely make more with Choice. It is becoming harder to build relationships with right agents at LS to get the better freight. But long term I would think LS is going to be a better investment.

I was on Schneiders Choice program for 2 years and loved it, but I have been out of the truck for a year and have been "pre-hired" for landstar. going to get my truck inspected next week and hopefully will be in orientation on the 7th in Indy.

I was in Orientation in August and guy was just coming over from Schneiders choice program and he had been there a few years and had a paid off truck, but he said the primo freight seemed to get run by the company trucks and the freight on the choice board that you got to choose from was low ball stuff. He stated he just wanted to see potential for better rates. I have seen that way to often when you have a mix of company trucks and owner ops, company trucks always run more and get the cherry freight. Landstar is a slow roll to get started with but the potential to get better freight is there I think.
richhawn, LSAgentOZR, Runnin and 1 other person Thank this.
