It's not just the agents that are lying to BCOs...

I see a combination of poor communication skills,bad attitude and what seems to be poor customer service. The LS business model is not for everyone,if it was then every O/O would be here making money. You seem to have developed a real poor opinion of agents and that might be justified but your never going to develop the network you need to be profitable if you dont stop the whining and complaining. You seem to want to lay all the blame on the agents when in reality I dont think you have put in near the right amount of time and effort to improve your operation. 3.00+ loads are not just going to drop in your lap I dont care what your pulling. You need to be aggressive and proactive with these agents and anybody that tells you anything different is just blowing you sunshine.

Not every agent is out to screw over the BCO's,in fact I have noticed that the agents I work with are working just as hard as I am. One thing you hear alot is that you need to develop relationships with agents. Some will tell you thats not true but let me tell you it sure cant hurt in fact its helped me alot. Of course there are agents with problems but thats just the nature of the business. Maybe its easier over here in dry vans but I think the skills required to be successful are the same. You need to be professional and show good customer service to everyone including agents.

 

I'll be honest. If an agent calls, say "No, thank you." Also, don't deal with agents West of Arkansas, especially West Texas. We live in Oklahoma.

We've also been accused of being stupid, lazy, whatever. We're not hauling loads for free. Glad to hear you're keeping a list. If we won't haul it, they don't make money. Stick to your guns!
