I am thinking about buying my own dry van. Does anyone know if there is an age limit on your trailer or does it just have to be in good shape?

Only has to pass DOT inspection. If you are going to go with Landstar you may want to hold off for 6 months to learn your way around. They have a lot of drop and hook freight. Depends what agents you work with and what freight lanes you run.

I am down to the final paperwork on the lease, but im about to chicken out. I have my own authority now, and am not looking forward to letting it go, but i'm not doing all that good anymore. I want to do better money-wise and have a nice variety of reliable, and unique freight. So here is the deal, I like to be home on the weekends here near Atlanta, Ga, i have a 53' Step with ramps, i like to run Texas/New Mexico/Oklahoma and mid-west with equipment, i would like to go to these places weekly and get a decent back-haul and make good money. Would this be possible with Landstar? I hear and read so many mixed feelings from people who are with them. Any info good or bad is priceless to me. Thanks :biggrin_25523:

You have the right equipment. Should do well if the loads pick up.

Just curious if anyone has been getting any decent loads from Landstar? I've noticed the number of loads on their board has been going up, but I'm curious as to how their rates are. Let me know guys, thanks.

It took me almost 2 months to get on with Landstar. Signed the first application on May 27 and after 3 sets of driver abstracts and CVOR`s, 2 drug tests and 2 pre-hire equipment inspections, they finally called me on July 24 and told me I was good to go. I had my orientation before I was actually hired. Sometimes very frustrating but patience I found was the key. I still think I made the right move. Just my HO.:biggrin_25520:

67% sounds a little low, did they go down?
