We found out, there's a catch. If it's not installed, within a time, we'll have to return the equipment. My husband was told it becomes mandatory next month and we'll have to pay for equipment and installation. Anyone else dealing with this issue?
We volunteered to install an EOBR. We have the equipment and it's not yet installed.

Not an O/O, not with Landstar, but check this website out. They will have more resources for you to draw on.

As far as I know, it's only mandatory for new BCO's and drivers with a lot of log and/or equipment violations.
I thought they installed it for you. I was told I could get it installed at St Augustine, and I just figured all of the orientation centers installed them. Did you ask them about installation. I was told while they are installing it they give you a tutorial on the operation of it.
I'm now I'm in the process of buying another truck, and I decided to have it installed in that truck, even if they don't ask me to. I figure it will be the law within a couple of years anyway, so may as well get used to it before it is law.truckfam Thanks this. -
Landstar installed mine for free at the Great Dane in Reno. Just called ahead before I got there.

The best part? A LS guy told him they'll resend the offer, make it mandatory and he'll have to pay for the equipment and the installation. Pretty soon, all LS drivers will be required to install. Like, March. My husband was also fed some other crap. Supposedly, some companies are fitting drivers with monitors to check blood pressure and stress rates. If they're under stress, they'll be instructed to pull over.
I want to know what company rep told him that crap. I don't take kindly to threats. Who do they think they are? The Teamsters? -

They used to use a lot of thermoking service centers to install qualcom stuff.

We had it installed, for free. The GPS was always screwing up and we've had to have it serviced, once a month. Once it's installed, it's a PITA.
