    Hello my fellow truckers,
I got canceled by landstar because I got stopped at a scale house and my elog broke before I got there to the scale. I explained to the female dot officer it just broke coming from Hanover pa and I live in md . She was like pull around back come and I did so. I called Landstar and of course as usual nobody is in there in logs at 1145 at night. I called QUALCOMM they said its broke no signal since Monday night 9pm last reading. I explained to the dot I will try to get the last 8 days since I just had my reset. We waited an hour for QUALCOMM to fax logs with no luck. I then get shut down for ten hrs and receive a citation for 290.00 for no record of duty status. I call landstar 8am tell them what happened they fax me logs for 8days now im doing paper till I get fixed later that day. I had new unit installed and then my log auditor calls I explain what happen she don't want to hear it because I got hrs violation with elog but no one able to get me logs when I needed it. I book a load to winter haven fla and log supervisor terminated my lease in fla . They paid me .65c a mile home back to md wouldn't accept responsibility for not having someone in there to be able to access our log files at night. Does anybody have any suggestions on who to lease to next? I have 2 csa points no tickets,1 minor fender bender last summer with a guy following my trailer too close. I need some suggestions .Thanks

Wherever you end up will be better. I went from paper logs to e-logs...specifically BigRoad. I keep track of my recap in case I lose my phone. I'll never drive for anyone who uses automatic onboard elogs especially that outdated crappy Qualcomm or peoplenet. Those programs are dinosaurs and beneath contempt. You'll be glad this happened and wonder why you didn't move on sooner!

Do u run for roadrunner? They do not use Elogs which is a plus.. However they do charge for anything and everything under the sun. They charge owner operators for using transflo to be paid, they charge operator for giving his money to him via Comdata they charge for doing settlements.. You name it they charge for it.

Mercer has a good reputation. Their drivers seem happy. I will probably go there. Already approved to go. At Mercer u will need a trailer. You can lease one.

Okay........Where's the emphasis on what I see is the real issue here. An argument could be made that you the driver should have a paper back-up log book; however, according to these companies QUALCOMM, People net etc.. their product works. In this case it did not and because of their crappy e-log system this driver received a citation because they could not get him a copy of his previous 7 days. Where are the slip and fall lawyers who could most certainly bring a class action lawsuit against these companies? I wish to God they would so e-logs would go the way of the dinosaurs.

Don't count on it. The FMCSA is ready to launch "everybody get's an elog" later this year. They're just waiting for the reg to clear OMB.
