Would any BCO out there pulling a van care to share with me what they average per mile? I've just been approved by Landstar (Mercer too) but before I jump ship from Schneider, I want to feel confident that I'm making the right decision. I live in the Atlanta area and I'm currently averaging around $1.42 at Schneider with an avg length of haul of about 380-420 miles. Would really love any input from current BCO's. Thanks much! Jim

I no longer pull van and I had my own van and that makes a difference but, I averaged a little over $2.30 TTT maybe a lil more....

Granted that I had 1 agent that I did %60 of my work with along with 1 dedicated load that I did every week for over 2 years.......

By the way I was leased to SNI out of charlotte for over 5 years before moving to LS......so I know the anxiety that you may be feeling getting away from SNI. I would have stayed at SNI but, the account I was on they kinda done away with.(local intermodal in charlotte and Greensboro.....Tried choice, but the rates just weren't there.......looking back and knowing what I know now, they were horrible.

I'm currently on the Choice program. So, if it were your decision, it would be a no brainer to go to LS? Thanks

Yes, $2.30 is amazing and as a new guy you ain't going to see it unless you have a Landstar agent already in your pocket.

IMHO I would pick Mercer, I just hear better things about that company than Landstar.

I hear good thing of mercer also, Idk about Mercer but all new guys coming to LS will have to install an electronic log..... I spoke with a guy Friday who was leased to LS for about 4 years, his load hit a bridge and LS cancelled his lease, and he came back after 1 year(LS said come back after 1 year) and has been back about a year now. If you like to be dispatched on longer runs then that's the way mercer dispatches you, he said short runs were 6-700 miles.....for me those are long runs.... LOL

Congratulations on the acceptance.LS is a good choice and the Atlanta area is pretty good for freight. Not quite sure on how Schneider is now I ran as an O/O for them in the late 90's but LS is by far the best company I've worked for.
