No they don't. They just have reefers there to claim that they do.

No problem. It is or was in the website. I know they do from when I talked to a recruiter and saw drivers with reefers.

i am leased to landstar and had a reefer with them from 2001to 2008. there is produce out of florida and more from california. there is also alot of hazmat and chemicals that require ref. but i wouldnt say it is advantageous to have a reefer with them.
mine was 48' and i had to pass on a good deal of loads because it wasnt 53' ,, alot of shippers want a 53 just in case they need it. another thing is a metal floor on my reefer, sometimes they would want to nail down the freight or they didnt like the ribbed flooring. i finally went to a 53 company van, there is alot of drop n hook freight which pays good. you can go onto , i think, landstar.com and see what freight they have for a reefer but it wont show the rate. if you call the broker they may tell you what it would pay. depends if they would tell an oo who isnt leased. if you have a 53, i would say you;d be ok. if you have a 48, you ;d still do ok, but not as ok.

i almost hauled a landstar load. that supposedly was full 53 foot van. the load was supposed to ship on friday and was already loaded. somewhere something got messed up. so on monday i went to pick it up. on a conastoga. darn good thing it wasn't going to fit. i have no idea how i would have strapped them pallets of boxed food.

53 ft van to a 48 foot con that's 6 inches shorter in height.

I've been with landstar for almost a year and I'm always seeing loads going and coming from Oklahoma. There are a lot of loads that move from OK to TX if that is something you are looking for. I'm out of KY, but I run all over. I try to stay in the middle part of the country, because rates tend to be higher. On the reefer question: I don't think I have ever seen a Landstar Reefer trailer. I had an agent tell me that all the reefer trailers were driver owned and that there were like 7 in the company, but I don't know if that is completely true. There can't be many since I've never seen one.
